Stunning remake, hands down the very best piece of fan-created gaming I've ever played - it's SoR perfect down to the smallest detail. No wonder Sega shut it down, the fans embarrassed the shit out of them I love the fact that not a single visual asset or line of code was used from the originals ... the fans redrew all the sprites, composed all the music, did EVERYTHING. It seems the only reused items were recorded SFX from the base games. Still.. dedication much?
Didn't know much about it to be honest. The fact that they were shut down shows once again what's one of the things that are so wrong in this damn industry: corporate suits running it all and doing everything just for money, while prohibiting everyone else to touch what it's theirs because their too incompetent to make something decent. It's the same shit with MERP right now.
after the excelent binary domain, playing red faction armageddon , what a shit - 4$ wasted
really?
I seem to be the only person in the universe who loved armageddon and hated guerilla
but yes - no match for binary domain

Yes, match. And it beats the hell out of that Derpinary Domain thing. Armageddon is an extremely good game and a proper Red Faction game. I did a Red Faction marathon not long ago and I dare to say that it's even better than the first one. It's also very similar to the first one, only it has much more going for it and it's in 3rd person. As for Guerrilla, I actually thought it was really boring when it got released, but now I can't decide if that or Armageddon is my favorite RF game. That one mission alone makes me love it a lot. There was that mission in which you have to follow the Marauders into the Badlands. That was so fucking cool!

Armageddon was one of the most bland and generic third person shooters ever released, and the huge arrows + invasive FOLLOW® hud made everything worse.
Imo
i keep hearing about binary domain being epic from everyone. and yet it seems it flopped. i thought it was a total derp port, buit I guess i will give it a chance now
playing black mesa, of course, then gonna do sleeping dogs
binary domain isnt epic, but its good, i liked the setting, story, companions and the shooting & dismembering of the robots; the boss fights were cool and pretty entertaining and much like in dark souls i felt really good and rewarded after killing them; plus you can get multiple ending scenarios based on what youre doing throughout the game ; also the cutscenes were great
but still the camera and controls are kinda meh even with the ltest patches

It was a bad port, at least at first. The patches made it fully playable with m+kb though. Don't expect anything "revolutionary" but it's definitely an enjoyable game. And I don't even like cover shooters.
Since my GPU is still in RMA (But it passed this Friday so a replacement should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday, probably Tuesday.) I've been taking it fairly slow this week, been watching the Metal Gear series playtrough and also downloaded some old series I watched as a kid.
Other than that I've just played a bit of Wii, will be fun to get the GPU back and then get into Borderlands ant Torchlight 2 this week.
STILL playing hitman sniper challenge (fuck square edition)... im still enjoying it. in fact, id love a game thats NOTHING but this stuff. sniping challenges. having to find creative ways to hide the bodies, get your timing right, skill shots (moving headshots, killstreaks) not getting attention, not killing civilians (unless its the same fucking bastard 8th time in a row that found a corpse.. bastard, youre going DOWN!!)
im in a real bind. im enjoying this so much, and its bringing back such great memories of the previous hitman games AND stealthing about in deus ex... i think i might buy this new hitman game :/
not full price, obviously, but fuck i hope it comes down in price, deux ex style... i actually REALLY want the game now... its made my top 5 on my steam list :/
Fallout New Vegas for now. I'm trying to do a savegame with all sidequests / DLC completed right before the story branches out towards the possible endings (Legion, NCR, MrHouse, myself). Best Obsidian RPG, and one of the greatest nonlinear RPGs ever made. So very much underrated... Not many mods used, only some bugfixes and Millenia / Arenovalis weapons addons / retextures.
Also, in whatever free time i have left - MTG : DOTP 2013.
started playing sleeping dogs, but after dark souls and then black mesa, it just seems so generic. I hate it when i play something amazing, and then have to wait till my expectations drop back to normal levels
So happy now I finally beat a game of Civ V on King difficulty with a cultural victory (standard duration, as Alexander, year 2004). I played nearly the whole game with only 3 cities as I read that was recommended for a cultural win.
Wow, it was pretty tense in the last 10 turns before a second UN election where Elizabeth was stealing city-states like crazy to get those 4 votes she missed in the first ballot. I was already building the Utopia Project but it was going to be done 4 turns after the ballot. So I decided to take action and executed a flash attack on a nearby City-Stake (you guess, allied with England) and by capturing it I stole from England another City-State who wanted the former destroyed
Elizabeth only got 6 votes in the ballot and in the next 4 turns Bismarck was denouncing me and getting ready to declare war moving his mighty army (He got a whole continent for himself after destroying France and Songhai and was like 1200 points and 10 technologies ahead of me) towards my borders. But not this time baby! Victory was mine
Btw, in this very match I fought a war that lasted like 100 turns against Napoleon (he had a stronger army for nearly the whole duration of the war) where he kept trying to invade me through an isthmus but kept getting his ass handed to him with every try. He kept offering peace treaties where he wanted me to give him a lot of stuff and I refused everytime. But then Germany attacked him and was owning him so hard that he decided to offer me a new treaty where he even gave me a free city
Anyways, here's a shot I took while fighting Napoleon. This is Sparta!
TLDR; I can finally stop playing this addicting game for a while as I'm finally satisfied... for now
I just beat Arx Fatalis (Arx Libertatis mod). My first impression is wow, this game is so old school and harcore. And by that I mean it doesn't help you in the least, you have to figure out most of the stuff by yourself. My simple recommendation for anyboy planning to play it for the first time in these times would be:
Explore, loot and store!!!
Explore everything, everywhere, look up-down-left-right-front-behind, interact with everything and I mean eeeeveerrrrything, specially when trying to solve a puzzle or find out how to open some door or chest. If you find some odd, apparently meaningless object in a chest, take it and don't lose it!.
I never was a RPG gamer, you could say I started just recently with games like The Witcher and TES (I don't consider any of the Deus Ex to be a RPG) and you could guess that I suffered a lot in this game, I even had to check for a video walkthrough a couple of times, notably...
Spoiler:
...when you had to lit the candle in Yserbius' room to open his bed secret stash.
Now, all this been said. The game is just great with its creative spell mechanics and all the possiblities with combining all sort of objects and substances. The dungeon crawler style is great and also felt very old-school (with all the good meaning that term can have).
- The combat wasn't too hard most of the times (except right at the beginning) and the final boss turned easy to beat after having leveled the right skills.
- The leveling system itself (very very similar to TES games, specially Morrowind/Oblivion), was fair and useful if you knew what you wanted to be/to do.
- The graphics seemed gorgeous to me at times inside the dungeons, I wonder if that was reworked by the modders or if that was mostly the vanilla stuff. The characters looked hideous by today's standards, but at the time I'm sure it wasn't that big of a shock.
- I have to admit the voice acting was pretty bad mostly, though funny at times (specially the goblins).
- The story was interesting, not best-seller material (it's just a game) but much better than most stuff they throw at us nowadays.
- There were some annoying design decisions that potentially could lead to an unsuspecting player to have to restart the whole game (or look for an old save) in order to be able to progress (like losing the Akbaa stones, fortunately I kept them stored the whole time ).
Concluding, this is a very unique game, that is pretty unforgiving at the same time. I can see many people who post in these forums who whoud say the game is shit and shift-delete after 2 hours Believe me I was tempted to do that but like with my previous novice RPG experiences I decided to endure until I found myself enjoying what I was doing.
I played part of the game before and I've been playing RPG games for quite some time, yet even I needed to google some stuff. The game is way too vauge sometimes when it comes to what you need to do next. It's so vague that it's a bit of a problem in my opinion. I don't mind using walkthroughs or such things, but I can see others quit instantly when getting blocked somewhere because it's the game's problem and not theirs. Also, did you have problems with the final boss? It was so damn easy... it dissapointed me actually. I didn't die a single time there. The Ylsides on the other hand...
Yep, I mentioned it in my little review, the final boss was pretty easy using the meteor sword + Ylside armor. I didn't die against him either. For the Ylsides it got easy as well when I discovered that two fireballs were enough to kill them. But of course, you shouldn't have to fight them unitil late in the game when you're stronger.
for me it was the opposite. i could kill everyone, but bosses would kill me really fast. i was a pure mage. the only way to defeat the final boss was to find a place where he could not attack me. i guess i just didn't level up wisely having never played such an unforgiving rpg before.
and yeah, often the game tells you nothing on what to do. i remeber having a meeting with the king and his advisors, and after the meeting was over I had no clue what to do. no one told me anything on what next or where to go. the king just thanked me for what i did before and dismissed me
truly hardcore game especially when played nowadays with other games having arrows and flashing objects every 5 feet lol
The first demon boss (the one in the meteor room) was very hard to kill as I wass pretty low level, but after that every boss was kinda easy, the giant worm didn't even hit me once when I fought it.
Also, I wanted to comment on the videos I checked for that couple of things I couldn't figure out for myself. They were made by some girl with a really cute german accent:
(warning: spoiler of the last mission).
I read in some of her comments that she got tongue cancer (that was back in 2010), I wonder if she's fine now.
