Quote:
American McGee will be at GDC in order to pimp his new concept, Little Red Riding Hood. The famous game developer has released some artwork to give a flavor of his new project, and it's looking pretty damn tasty.

"[The artwork] depicts a scene from a game concept I'll be pitching at this year's GDC," explains American, whose name sounds ludicrous without the McGee part. "If we're lucky, an interested publisher will help us move it into production. It's an idea that [Spicy Horse art director] Ken Wong and I have been toying with for years."

I want it! I want it NOW! Great concept arts, as always for his games.

Let's just hope he'll find a publisher and the final game will a bit less repetitive than his last Alice. Rolling Eyes Which I still enjoyed and finished tbh.

On the other hand, American McGee is not famous for delivering quality... Embarassed

American McGee Presents Bad Day LA? Don't know about Grimm for sure, but I've also heard it's not of top-notch quality.

His games are usually average in terms of gameplay but do always have fantastic art design.

I hope you have an iPhone... This is unlikely to be a PC/console game, as they had said Alice 2 was going to be their last.

Announced. Smile

EDIT:

Quote:

Spicy Horse, helmed by game designer American McGee, has announced its next game. Titled Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, the game tells the tale of Red Riding Hood through the lens of Edo-era Japan. The free-to-play game is set for PC, web, and tablets, and the beta is set to launch later this year.

EDIT: That article they linked to had a few screens.

That spells for a curiosity but not a fully fleshed PC game. Meh.

Alice and Scrapland were great but that's pretty much it and those were made a long time ago (for those that never played Scrapland, wth!? It's awesome!)

Bleh, they went all anime/manga with it. Way to waste an awesome idea.

Not surprised, again this is what Spicy Horse said in mid 2011: http://www.americanmcgee.com/wordpress/2011/05/16/spicy-horse-gallops-in-a-new-direction/

Quote:
Going forward the focus is going to Free to Play, Online, Multi-player games built using high quality 3D assets and distributed via mobile platforms and F2P operating partners world-wide. This strategy effectively combines two things Spicy has proven it’s great at – casual online games (Grimm) and AAA console games (Alice). My belief is that this combination will be the next big wave in the casual online space. Where audiences have had their fun with great 2D Facebook games, the market demands evolution, and we hope we’ve got the secret formula.

Over the coming weeks and months we expect to announce more details about a range of exciting projects, including the collaboration with PopCap. For the “Alice” fans, we’ve got some twisted fairy tales being adapted into F2P format – very dark stuff. And the creative minds at the studio are also stretching out, building a diverse offering of IPs which we hope will capture audiences around the world.

The underlined obviously refers to this game, which was at the time unannounced.

Today, the Shanghai-based studio Spicy Horse, which has completed work on Alice 2 for EA, is announcing that it has secured $3 million in investment from Singapore and Shanghai-based Vickers Venture Partners.

I swear to god if they let EA publish them again I'm going to rage quit. I bought maddness returns on steam during that huge sale in July and I never even got to play the damned thing because of EA's broken DRM. Valve was nice enough to refund me.

Seems they are doing a Kickstarter campaign. Smile
(Also the beta has been pretty fun so far, haven't played in a while though since I've been busy with other stuff but it's updated fairly frequently, it's not bad for a browser game.)
