|
 |
I hope someone can help me with this?
If I have a few android games that come with an .APK file and an SD files rar or zip, where, once they are unpacked where do I copy the SD files dir to? Example:
Juggernaut Revenge of Sovering v2.2(5)-Game-AnDrOiD.apk
and
ru.mail.games.juggernaut (dir when unpacked) where does this dir go?
I have obviously done a bit of searching but cannot find a definite answer, do they go on the SD card? Which seems obvious given their name? ie: SD/Andoid/data or do they go on the android/data dir on the root?
I have tried a few places/games but nothing works so far.
Thanks.

don't you have to use an installer? I seem to recall that I used an apk installer to install apk files.
edit: try searching for apk installer on google play, I used that once when I had to install an apk.
Hardware: Ryzen 3700x, B450 MSI Gaming Pro carbon AC, GTX1080, 32 GB 3200 Mhz cas 14, 256 EVO SSD, 1 TB EVO SSD and 4 TB HDD.
Console: xbox, wii and xbox 360

Yes I can install the game fine but a lot of them come with a separate dir as I explained above, and I am not sure where to put this. I assume this is added content like graphics etc, games with just an APK are fine and work ok so far.

Place the folder in "/Android/obb". The folder you unpacked should contain .obb file(s).
If you're wondering what it is, many games download additional files (mainly gfx) after installation. If you don't want to download the files from within the game, which is usually slow, you can download them separately. Games use different places to store data (I can use my external SD with my S3 sometimes for xample), but with that folder structure it should be the obb folder.

Thanks, so I assume if a game is released by a group with these additional files included it is simply to save having to d/l them within the game? Or are they cracked in any way? Or is just the APK cracked?

The apk is cracked, the additional files do not have to be cracked (that was the case with the few games I tried). They do it to save download time, since downloading the files from within teh game can be quite slow.

Thanks that has cleared up a lot of confusion, so far its been a bit hit and miss with regards to games with the added SD dir, some work some don't some will d/l the extra files fine some wont, some work with the files added manually some don't.
Just trial and error I suppose.
Cheers for the help

Copy to root SD card path. Install a file explorer, tap on it, profit!

Can you explain exactly what you mean mate? Do you mean on the root of the device or the root of the external SD card? Do you mean copy the SD.rar/zip packed or unpacked?
Please bear in mind I am very new to these 'toys'
Thanks

Copy the unzipped/unpacked .apk file to the SD card main path, as in, the path you see when Windows automatically displays it to you upon mounting the phone in an USB cable.
For file explorer, I'd recommend ES File Explorer, I've been using it for a long time and it's pretty great. This program will display the files which are present in the default storage location which can be set in the Storage section of the Settings menu. (Settings>Storage>Default Storage Location>SD Card.)
For example:
Juggernaut Revenge of Sovering v2.2(5)-Game-AnDrOiD.apk goes unpacked, with that file terminology in the main path of the SD card.
ru.mail.games.juggernaut SHOULD go into Android/data. When viewed in a file explorer, it should be /sdcard/Android/data/.
Hope this helps.

Yes I did, I assumed ClaudeFTW was on about the SD files, anyway I will have a mess about with it later. Any other advice is appreciated on installing stuff, apps/games not to miss etc.
Also I should have made the thread title more clear, its an Android tablet I am on about not a phone, I don't know if that makes a great deal of difference with regards to dir structure etc.
Thanks.

There isn't any.
Depends what tablet you're on.
If you're on a Nexus 7 (or anything powered by Tegra 3) be sure to check out Shadowgun and Dead Trigger

The easiest method is to just install the apk, fire it up and let it download whatever it wants. Doesn't get easier than that. I usually do it like that since it downloads in the background and 500KB/s is enough most of the time.

Yeah I have been dong that with a pretty good success rate, some apps refuse to d/l the files (just start and create an empty dir) and copying them manually does not work either.
Looking for a decent file manager and desktop (or whatever its called) replacement if anyone knows some decent ones, also something like ccleaner but pretty fool proof as I don't want to delete needed files.

I use Titanium, so I have no experience with that app, but I'd imagine only the apk's for the games are backed up. So you'll have to re-download the additional files when restoring the backup.

Still having some problems with SD files/directories
example:
Dangerous HD v1.1.1
Install Instructions:
*Install APK
*Copy 'com.avyn.dangeroushd' to '/sdcard/Android/obb/'
*Launch the Game
Sounds simple enough but it does not work, this may sound daft but does it mean the actual external SD mem card or the internal memory? Android/Obb dir (I have tried both to no avail)
I have no sdcard dir as such on the internal mem should I create one or what?
I did read on a forum to change the name of the obb file but it simply does not work, I am sure its something so simple I am doing wrong or perhaps not doing at all?
Thanks for any help

What I do is install the apk, open it, start downloading the files and then close the game. Find the directory and paste it there.

The apk might not be properly cracked. Try lucky patcher after installing it.

Would some kind soul mind trying the game for me? As stated I am very new to android devices so any help is appreciated.
If someone could just try it and let me know how they get on?
Dangerous HD v1.1.1
Thanks.
Also lucky patcher sounds a bit ambiguous is it safe to use?

It depends on where you downloaded it from. Apk's from different places might differ. It miht work when I try it, but that might be due to a properly cracked apk. Up it somewhere and pm me.

I appreciate the offer but I don't really have anywhere to up it to mate, I assume there are some free web hosting sites?
Anyway I have the same problem with nearly every game that has an extra SD.rar with it. The only one that worked was earth and legend I let that d/l the extra files itself and no problem all. others don't work, the old/new prince of Persia game just released is one example.
