You pass through them, but you stutter. That's not collision detection, that's glitching like fuck.

This is pretty decent for mechwarrior really, it actually feels tactically viable; unlike all the rest, where it is just sniper wars with heavy mechs.

I did a few rounds with the 4 trial mechs, and I got thoroughly trashed using them because I couldn't figure out how the fuck to separate firing groups for quite some time, which would often result in me firing missiles all over the place and overheating at random. Trial mechs don't give pilot XP but they do give c-bills.

My frame rate is pretty dogshit on my laptop (the game is really post-processing heavy) so I decide to buy the speedy jenner-d and run intel instead of trying to aim with 12 fps.
Initially I didn't think it such a great move because while charging around at 120kph, it is pretty damn hard to navigate around things with crap FPS. I often ram allies down comically. No one has raged at me, yet. Laughing

Turns out light-mechs are damn easy to grief with and I'm quite successful running behind enemy lines and unloading my SRM6 into back vents. I can't imagine how infuriating it is when they are mid duel and I roll up and start fucking with their aim; good luck turning around!

There are four mechs you can use that don't cost you a dime to run, and don't have to be repaired.

The four trial mechs are:
Commando (light)
Centurion (med?)
Dragon (heavy)
Awesome (assault)

Naturally you can't change their layouts or anything.

It's very far away from being a real game.

We must be playing a different game.

If you move into allies, or any mech the one that is lighter will fall to the ground.

and i hate missiles so i dont see me playing again.

lol what?

Currently lasers are OP as shit until they implement the crits/impact physics system thing for everything that isn't a laser.

And sorry, but i've gotta give people shit that pay for beta access and then ask for a refund because they don't like it. Even worse is that the game will be free to play at release.

Just lol

is not feedback .. like feedback, like there are op or another shit.

is like how i feel the weapons.
and i was not asking for refund with an easy heart.
after i player almost straight for 16 h, got to sleep, and fireup mechwarrior 2/3/4/merc for the next days, and asked for some good old people from mtx to help me test it in mp.
weapon like ppc/gauses/lasers are on the spot in those titles. again, i'm not talking about damage or opness. i'm talking about how i feel and how they respond/work. dont know how to explain in to you.
i canot stand how those work in mwo. thats all. when nda will be lifted, and i will have a chance to test them again (they dint remove my beta access, but i will not login until they open the beta for everyone), i will post the 3 pages of wall text i send them.
i shooted some comparative movies, open a ticket and explained my pov, and specify that i could understand that if they decide not to refund me.
they decided to refund me like gesture of goodwill.

that was all.

Weapon feedback is nonexistant.

Oh and Mchart, I was on a map with a bridge, moving faster than the mech in front of me and I just walked through him while twitching/glitching a little.

Maybe it was just a glitch, I never mustered the courage to spam some weakass lazors and pointless missiles, not being able to tell where the fuck they land or what their effect is.

I've only played a short while lately but I really like what I see, especially once you properly configure the weapon groups --- and stick several billion heatsinks on your chassis. I don't know who thinks the weapons are OP, but they're sorely mistaken, I've got 3xSLRM4, 1xPPC, 3xMLaser and even at distances of 100-200m, I barely scratch the armour of ANY mech .. small or large. It takes several combined bursts to do 3-5% damage and after 2 shots my heat goes through the roof and I have to run away like a pussy Laughing

So no, weapons are far, far from OP. Also there is some small kind of collision detection, I've been running around and accidentally collided with enemy - and ally - mechs and one or both of us had been knocked to the ground .. but that's about it. You can often run through each other as if you didn't exist.

Quite possible that you already know this, but keep in mind that the PPC and LRMs have a minimum range, 90 for the PPC and somewhere around 100-200m for the LRMs. Targets inside the minimum range wont take any damage.

Sorry, my fault, I meant Streak SRM, not LRM. But yeah.. I know about the minimum distance and I tend to keep targets between 200-250M (270M is the maximum distance for the SRM and they have no minimum, as you said, it's around 90 or so for the PPC) Still don't do much damage. It's weird.

You probably mean streak srm ;P

But yeah, time to kill is pretty high. Compared to the table top they did double the armour values. Apparantly it wasn't very fun to insta die when some hit your cockpit with a AC/20 ^^

I don't really mind about the increased armour, I find it makes for a more enjoyable and prolonged battle ... but the heat cost is INSANE. You really can't fire more than 2 bursts without overheating and this is on a Catapult with 28 heatsinks.

Aye, heat management is rather tricky in this one. Unlike most previous games where 15 heatsinks would nullify the first 15 heat you gain here it just makes you dissipate that heat faster, so you have to experiment quite alot to find a "rotation" that works. And on top of that PPC are a pain in the arse when it comes to heat, I personally find them rather underwhelming. They just build way too much heat compared to their damage to be worth it.

Then again, I've always been more of a ballistics guy.

Just a word about this, the netcode isn't quite as good as it looks sadly (crysis 1 engine was just as poor). Your damage may be headed sound of the border if you have latency, and to counter this, you need to be aiming ahead slightly- mostly with your lasers.
My jenner-f runs 6 small lasers and it is much easier to gut people knowing this.

Use tab in-game to check latency.
