yeah right you wanna D3 in exchange maybe? Shut the fuck up and play this "great game" for neoliberal retards. |
I asked 30€ for it, not Diablo III. Also i have D3 already, so you can shut the fuck up.

Oh? Really? Who would have guessed?
Spoiler: | Casus wrote: | So.... I'm enjoying the game... somewhat.
It feels kinda aimless - and I'm not really sure why I'm doing what I'm doing. The story exposition for Dynamic Events isn't really there - and I'm lacking motivation for doing things.
I know the game is supposed to be about playing it as you feel like, but I guess I'm used to having more direction.
The personal story has been pretty boring so far, and I think the writing and voice acting needs work. I'm playing a Human Thief, btw.
I love the look of the world - and the game "flows" really really well. The combat is fast and visceral - and there's a lot of depth in the traits.
But, I don't know. It's probably just me - but I feel like I'm forcing myself to play half the time. I'm trying to "get" it - but maybe I'm just not wired for GW2. |
Casus wrote: | I don't think it's all that great, myself - but I don't see how people can "explain" why you should like it. It's not for you, and that's quite alright.
Personally, I really like the world and the obvious love and care put into the art. I think the combat is very fast and entertaining. I like the nature of the dynamic events - and the fact that I can explore and be rewarded almost no matter where I go and what I do.
I don't like that there seems to be no long-term reason to play, and I don't think WvW is for me. It's basically a zerg-fest with no meaningful progression or reward.
I don't like that power progression stops entirely at level cap - and that you're supposed to repeat content for "visual upgrades". To me, that's not an improvement over the power grind - it's just an optional fluff grind. It doesn't change that it's essentially a themepark that you will exhaust in 1-3 months.
Overall, it's obviously a very maintream/casual game with a ton of convenience and pleasant stuff to do. But it's not for people who're looking for a longterm MMO home.
That said, there's no subscription fee - and already after ~20 hours I feel like I've gotten a decent return on my investment. |
Casus wrote: | I think I'm starting to burn out with the game. I'm 28th level now, and it's just really bland to me. I mean, it has a nice flow in terms of combat and movement - and it looks and sounds pretty good. I like that they're trying to reward exploration and crafting - but nothing seems to really matter in this game.
After level 30, you pretty much only have traits to look forward to. Gear is boring and doesn't give you that feeling of power progression.
WvW is removed in an instance and doesn't really mean anything (beyond a few percentages of bonus stuff) - and it resets every 2 weeks. sPvP is ok - but is exactly like all the other modern themeparks - except there's no meaningful reward.
I find the zones too similar and none of the 6-7 I've seen so far stand out like the beautful zones did in WoW back then. They don't have a strong atmosphere and the music is average with limited variety.
I don't know... The entire game just seems so mainstream/accessible that there's really no way to excel or stand out.
Even without a sub fee - I don't see this game lasting very long.
Oh well.... |
|
Aaanyway, I must say that while it's still somewhat entertaining for me (no other MMORPG in last two or three years could hold my attention for so long), I'm sad they really removed EVERYTHING from Guild Wars 1. GW1 had a lot of good things going for it and it's a shame that none of it is present in GW2.
Oh...and btw dungeons in this game are TERRIBLE.

stopped playing this, I dont like the art style and the side quests are basically the same thing. While playing I noticed myself thinking more and more of SWTOR so I jumped back into the SW universe yesterday. Having a blast so far.

Slow? I'm level 32 and I started playing during the pre-launch event. Did the first story mode dungeon yesterday with my guild, not really sure how I feel about it to be honest. I sort of liked the idea of no tanks and healers, but the result seems to just be that noone really takes damage.
Though I suppose it was just the first dungeon, will see how it goes in a few weeks when I'm high enough level to do the next one ..

agreed there^. explore mode rewards tokens, did CM and got 30. i think on runs after you get 15. a weapon costs 200 or 390.
the amount of work that goes into getting that miniscule amount far outweighs the potential reward. so yeah, they need to be touched up a bit.

Finally get my boxed copy in today, a day after ArenaNet resumed the sale of digital keys, figures!
Anyway, I've got my old GW1 Collectors Edition account (original, no expansions), but the e-mail login bound to it is no longer active (old ISP e-mail). When I register my GW2 key, if I choose to bind my old GW1 account to it, will it give me the option to have my GW2 account use a different contact/login email?
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

IIRC correctly it will use the email from the GW1 account by default.
However, you can change the email. I'm not sure you will be able to do so without access to the original email, but as long as you have your serial keys with you it should be easy to solve by contacting support.

If you like repetetive gameplay and cute graphics then play this. I got bored after 2 weeks because you kinda did the same thing over and over, which might be true for almost all mmos but atleast they give you an illusion of variety.
Also this game pushed me back to SWTOR which im enjoying again...

Why is it repetitive? You gain experience doing anything in the world. Like to craft? XP! Like to explore? XP! Wanna do quests? XP! Dynamic Events? XP! Gathering? XP! World PVP? XP!
And so on. So basically you can level doing anything you want. All the other mmos let you level efficiently only through quests.
Don't get started on how you have 5 abilities per weapon, instead of the ten thousand other mmos give you, when you level up (in wow atleast) you ALWAYS use your optimal rotation, which is usually made up of three or four abilities.
