Doesn't really feel like a prequel to anything. You succeeded in what you were set out to do. And i don't really understand why we got to choose our name when this is a prequel to a mmo. Character is a fucking war machine, and if the mmo is connected, how will it connect? as there is no name for your character.

Well, for obvious reasons you should understand why they let you do that, just for this game.
Same as with the elder scrolls player-heroes (Nerevarine, Hero of Kvatch, Dragonborn, etc), there are books in TES, in witch they talk about the characters from the previous TES games, addressing them by the appropriate title and never by their player-names.
You get a title that I assume sticks in the history of Amalur. Didn't made much progress in the main quest but I finished the House of Ballads story line and you get a temporary "name" there as well as a title. And I think through out the main quest/world they refer to you as Fateless One or The One Untouch by Fate.
That and the devs talk about it in some interviews where they say that the events in Reckoning start of the new era in witch the mmo takes place. And through out Reckoning things are changing in Amalur, and you play a big role in that.

Loved this game but as said before it's way too easy even on hard difficulty a shame as the world is big and varied
|
