Silent Storm Gold
(Base game and expansion, probably fully updated, likely mod compatible too but there weren't that many from what I remember, might have changed.) |
Still got the original CDs I imported years ago before silent storm was available in Canada.

Silent Storm is awesome because you can destroy almost everything in the game to the point that you can cluster fuck yourself. In one mission I destroyed some floor makeing a pit that my soldier have no way of getting out.
And this game have the best grenade throwing mechanic ever implemented.

original SS was great, but the sequels and h&s were mediocre.
i don't get why there aren't any good games out using the engine, or any mods.

Daywatch and Nightwatch were using the same engine. Good mods are non-existent because of the lack of modding tools. The game is a pain to mod without some friendly tools.
You can get some mods here:
http://www.strategycore.co.uk/files/
Also there are some fixes to make the games playable on Windows7. Sorry, GOG weren't the first to make them playable on Windows7, the small community made sure long before that we still could play them.
The files for making the original game to work on win7 are here:
http://www.strategycore.co.uk/forums/forum/60-silent-storm-series/
P.S.: Fragile Allegiance out.

Beware that Resonance on GOG does not activate on Steam.
On the homepage, you get a DRM free version AND a Steam key for the same price.

You're right, I was thinking more along the lines that they are/were Lucasarts franchises.

Were. The Telltale staff is ex-Lucas. And they've managed to get a couple o the old adventure licenses based on that.
Hopefully more licenses will follow (stuff like The Dig, Full Throtle, Maniac Mansion, Zak McCracken, Day of Tentacle or Grim Fandango). Looks like the Monkey Island IP is shared, for now, between Lucas and Telltale.
Ex-Lucas employees companies: Autumn Moon Entertainment, Telltale Games, Double Fine Productions. Other were Cavedog Entertainment and Humongous Games, but both disappeared, in time.

Well it was a clone of Diablo. You could play with one or two characters, there was LAN as I remember because I played it with my friend. You had to eat in game and it had one cool feature that was auto-return button which made your character go to the exit of dungeon or to selected location on map.
TBH it was better than D3

Word. Loved that game. The only part I was never too fund of was the 3rd, terraforming level. Other then that what a fucking blast. If the couple of games I got lined up don't work out I'll have to grab it and replay it for the umpteenth time. Thanks puxili. (my wallet hates you btw.)

Anyone else find themselves checking that site less and less? I really hate that its no longer good OLD games but now whatever games we can get a hold of to fill our library? I mean its cool to get drm free games but I'd rather see them focus on getting more classics likebthe old command n conquers....syndicate wars...doom quake etc...
