I heard that it suppose to have a chain of set missions which may branch from time to time giving you a choice between two different ones (ig. one will give you new technology the other one let you capture an alien officer). In other words no random missions and no random progress - just a different choices from game to game.

sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm

this may turn out in a good feature, if it doesn't feel too linear...
from the video posted by ixigia, i have some mixed feelings. have to watch a more gameplay centered video.

At the moment only one thing worries me: the size of the maps. We all know how consoles are limited in that regard and seeing how consoles are obviosuly the leading platform for this I fear maps will be very small compared to original.
Just today a I saw a stream from the game showing terror mission and the map was so fucking small... Really, really worrying...

Here's the video: http://www.twitch.tv/2k/b/330155062

Besides the size of the map I love everything else.

i hope it only was a smaller, beginning of the game, warehouse level. The game does look really good otherwise. But im sure there are more open areas. Consoles are limited, but not that limited.

They probably only showed the smaller level because its a press thingy.

Looks great!

Pre-orders of XCOM: Enemy Unknown give players access to the 'Elite Solider Pack,' which includes a set of "top-of-the-line soldier customization features," such as the Soldier Deco packs and complete color customization," along with the (already known) classic XCOM soldier flat-top harido. PC players will also have a shot at a platform-exclusive special edition, featuring "a number of unique XCOM items, including an art book; fold-out poster of the XCOM headquarters; XCOM insignia patch; and a collection of digital bonus assets such as desktop wallpaper, soundtrack and more."

Think I will order that..

If it's true, replayability is nothing. These games were great for going back and doing stuff completely different. flipping some binary choices is lame as shit.

You have to translate it because it's in polish.

Quote:

EN: My adventure with a playable version of the title has began with a surprise - what surprised me was a design of the campaign that consists of a series of closely related scenarios. In contrast to its iconic original new XCOM isn't relying on random events - you are doing tactical missions in a certain order, and our activities, both during the actual action, as well as during our stay in the base are punctuated by numerous cinematics. The game puts a surprisingly strong emphasis on story, on one hand, it seems an interesting solution, on the other hand, however, has its distinct disadvantages. The biggest drawback of that there is little motivation to replay an alien invasion. In the second approach, the product will not be able to surprise us as much as the first time.

They've said numeruous times that it's gonna be more structured than the original. The replayability could be a big issue, indeed, hard to say, as you still get random missions between the campaign ones...
