Guys, i borrowed a gamepad (Saitek PS1000 Dual Analog Pad) from a friend. I downloaded and ran x360ce (XBOX 360 Controller emulator) and all of the buttons are working as they should inside the program when i test them.
A is button 2 (on my gamepad)
B is 3
Y is 4
X is 1
But, when i enter the game, A is not button 2 anymore. It changes to button 3. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Edit: Got it. I finally have the perfect xbox 360 emulation. Button by button. All i had to do was to copy .ini and .dll file to Dark Souls folder.

Seeing people have reported about things like this, then i'm sure that's someone who has edited his character through the save files.

Fact is, there are NPC encounters who're invading your game when you're in human form. Like the Thorn Knight or what he's called in the Depths. They can drop some pretty good and unique loot too.

Not without also doubling the speed of the actual game unfortunately, it might be doable but it probably will take a bit of time.
Drowning_witch wrote: | how are you so fast? i expect i won't finsih the game under 100 hours |
Back when the game came out towards the end of 2011 I followed it pretty intensely from everything to Wiki sites to walkthrough videos like I did with Demons Souls before, I never expected to see a PC release so I wasn't too concerned but that info means I can do pretty much the entire game very fast and without too many problems since I know where everything is and how most of the game mechanics work already.
It is different actually playing the game and the game is still very challenging, all in all I'm about twenty hours into it with most of the time being backtracking to existing areas to clear out the remaining items and bosses, game is very open so you can do things in various orders but there's still some linearity since it's usually extremely difficult to visit certain locations early on in the game though if you do manage to utilize this you can get a lot of good items fast and also you might be able to skip several parts of certain areas though it's usually not recommended.
Equipment is also far more important than leveling up but it's still a good idea to keep increasing the core attributes of whatever playstyle you prefer, I primarily increase strength and endurance with dexterity and vitality at the side to gain close combat related bonuses and being able to use the heaviest items with as little penalty as possible, no one item is actually "best" though as they all have advantages over one another and fit varying styles of play, animations and such also play a important role with slower weapons requiring more precision so you actually hit instead of just wasting most of your stamina and being open for a counter attack (Or worse, backstab or parry with riposte.) whereas faster weapons could have shorter reach or much less damage.
It's also important what equipment to upgrade and then how to "ascend" this to better quality gear or even unique items later on in the game although it's not too difficult to gain the more common crafting materials although the final tiers (+7 to +10 usually, +15 even later.) can be quite costly.
Some equipment can't even be upgraded yet it still holds up very well even to a +10 armor set or the special armor you can upgrade (Usually to +5) which is pretty neat.
Of course since there's no one best set of equipment many players seem to go by style and upgrade that to overcome what limitations the default armor has, certain NPC armor is quite popular whereas others are also very good by default.
(But can require certain preparations to acquire, defeating a specific enemy for example or doing a chain of events, it's pretty subtle so you might not even realize you've started something like that.)
Will be fun getting to New Game+ mode and getting my ass kicked over and over since the old techniques and methods won't really be as effective any longer, would be fun maxing out stats as well and reaching level 500+ or so but that's going to take a while.
(Will limit PvP as well but only to a small degree since Covenant rules can change things somewhat such as certain guilds invading soul level up instead of down, of course this will not be too apparent yet as people are just getting into the game but in a few weeks or so things will likely be very active.)

That or the black fire bombs (Or the ring if you're into story/lore), you can acquire most (Or well, all.) of the items eventually though but having the key early is helpful if you want to skip ahead.
(And the bombs allow you to kill the "keeper" on the first try - before even exiting and then returning to fight him properly as intended - and receive a bonus.)

Yeah, I did take the Firebombs on PS3 back then and my current char. But afterall... the mace you'll get from the asylum demon isn't that good and requires a crazy amount of strength. Dunno if you get more souls from him this way though. Same as with the axe/hammer/demonbone-thingy you'll get from the Gaping Dragon's tail. And as far as I know, you can get the Hammer from Snuggly as well. But that's just imho.

Yeah from what I've read it's a bit of a cheap way as the actual method is to take him on in New Game+ when you'll have the stats boosted and more proper equipment, key is usually the main item taken though, I simply took the bombs as to play more correctly, all doors can be unlocked eventually either via shortcuts from the other end (Usually the master key can't open these anyway.) or via keys found elsewhere.
That said there's of course a certain other thing about the Asylum which makes that first battle seem pretty calm and relaxed, ha ha.
EDIT:
Janz wrote: | just get the dragon sword,at that stage of the game its the most powerful weapon |
I used that to take out a black knight whom luckily enough dropped his sword, battle was still very tough and took some attempts but that was a damn good weapon and if maintained can last through the entire game apparently.
(For a big sword it's still pretty quick and it deals a lot of damage when upgraded, needs a bit of stat requirements to wield properly if you want to use a shield though - or other offhand item, I'd recommend a shield usually.)

None of them have AA. Downsample 1.5x or 2x your native resolution, works better than any AA. Your comp should easily handle it.

Already had it since I knew about it back when I played the PS3 version (friend told me how to get it).

Yeah, sure. Many of the doors you can open with the MK aren't even supposed to be opened up so early. (Astora's + Dragon Crest shield etc.) Still, feels kinda better than the bombs as a starting gift.

You mean the 2nd demon below when you got back to the asylum via the crow's nest (which is also needed if you want to trade with Snuggly)?

So I was working my way through the taurus demon (pretty hard without locking on him, as I was realizing) when after my 2nd blow it jumps... off the wall and into the chasm.
Oh well
