I have that library function disabled, then again I don't use Daemon Tools to mount images either, interesting info though, read about and declined the mount space message pop-up but had no idea it could still catalog to show most popular image names, though to me that seems completely harmless.
(I edit them if it's not as easy as to just unpack the image via Winrar or similar to begin with.)

EDIT: But it's good to know about of course, people whom are more sensitive or have more sensitive data via that program will likely be grateful for this information. Smile

Hmm, I guess this only applies to recent installations of DT? I don't have MountSpace anywhere on my DT-L install. There is an option under "Media Info" to "Send anonymous usage statistics" but that's been disabled since I installed DT over four months ago. No "ImageInfoCache" in AppData either.

Guess I'll be sticking to this version then Very Happy It's not like anybody even cares, or uses, the old copy-protection emulation stuff these days. Now I just use it as a disk mounting app that is lightweight and functional.

Why would you even use Daemon Tools these days?

Virtual CloneDrive ftw.

And what, exactly, does Virtual CloneDrive have that DT doesn't? (and no, "less MountSpace", while funny, is not an answer Razz)

This, to be honest. DTL uses 5MB of RAM and supports 99% of the file systems out there, there's your efficient, costs 23MB HDD space, there's your small and it has Explorer integration allowing double-click mounting with no fuss or messing around, there's your quick Very Happy

Virtual CloneDrive uses less than 4MB of RAM, 2MB on drive and has all the stuff you mentioned Razz
I guess it's like once you go black, you don't come back Very Happy

I noticed DT going overboard on shit over the years, I only need to mount only as well and i find magicdisc much more lightweight... magic disc running is just 2.7mb

I would also recommend Virtual CloneDrive, it officially supports only several types (BIN/CUE, ISO and CCD) but can actually mount whatever as long as it can recognize ISO/UDF structure in file (NRG, MDS etc).

It's only 1.5 MB and you can mount/unmount images by right-clicking on virtual drive in My Computer.

Hell I haven't used DT or any virtual drive in years, its gone the way of the floppy to me...

unrar/7zip the ISO to the actual files,
delete the ISO and keep the 'extracted' files and install from them and copy the crack over.

Virtual CloneDrive is good but lacks some format support.

WinCDMount is very good and supports all the formats we're using. There is also a portable edition. The virtual device gets installed on demand and uninstalled when unmounted.

Alcohol Free Edition is pretty good as well, but it has that SPTD driver that DT also has.
