Buy a portable (3DS, DS or PSP) or see the GOG site. Almost all their games have requirements for very old PC's

Put good old Half-Life1 with a crack on an USB stick, start it on the USB stick directly and have fun. 8-10 hours of FPS epicness that should run on every PC nowadays (yes, even the shitty ones at your jobs).

lucky for you, i'm in the same "predicament" since a month now (and still a week to go)
so off the top of my head (or rather, my "work" pc desktop), here's a mix of new and old 2d games that shouldn't stress even office computers too much:
- cthulhu saves the world
- the new penny arcade game
- emulators (snes)
- old lucasarts adventures
- unepic (metroidvania genre, rpg parody but also good gameplay)
- cave story
- thomas was alone
- fractal
- machinarium
- botanicula
- divine/beyond divinity
- resonance
- raptor: call of shadows
- duke nukem 2+3

i really like simulation, tycoon kind of games, but feel like i tried them all and i'm now totally bored at work lol
ps: machniarium was real fun! had me hooked for a few days!

in a strict closed environment, roguelikes over ssh
my favorite for work is doomRL
and other turn basedgames you can freely alt+tab out of in case somebody comes over
or browser games
i have collected some remakes of old ones at wanha.com
if you can have the software natively, fallout1/2, jagged alliance2, etc
frozen synapse multiplayer (sp requires tons of cpu)
most of these games do not require audio and can be played in a window, while working on your spreadsheet/code/art/porn

You can download GTA and GTA2 from the Rockstar Classics website for free. The first one gives me a migraine nowadays, but the second is much smoother and still the source of many lulz when I should be working.

The 6P ones are like, pre-recorded games from other people or something, lol. I think there are some LIVE ones but it might be 2P only. Still, it gets harder the further up you go. ;p
