ok after my first try i dont like the camera shaking/stuttering while driving at all. the parkour part feels a bit sloppy too. do you ever get to upgrade that skill or buff it somehow? aside from those minor problems i like the rest a lot so far. even the fighting at the start is fun (with no moves or anything but grab/counter/punch unlocked). cant wait to see bigger fights when i have more moves and stuff.

i am getting a shenmue feeling a bit too. i find its closer to a game like shenmue than a gta because of the weird camera, the fact that so far i am spending more time on foot in little alleys and side streets than driving around, and a lot of the npcs are actually out in the street for you to talk to (unlike gta where almost everyone is a cutscene triggered by going to a glowing marker). hopefully i can learn to remember where mrs whatserfaces flower stand is this time (if i ever have to go back there to tell her something about the day the snow melted).

i ran the benchmark on max @ 1920x1200 and got avg 38 max 65 min 25.
ran it with aa down to normal and everything else on max and got avg 75 max 115 min 47.
(3930k@4200/32gigs@2133/680top). gpu temps were under 65 the whole time but my fans got going pretty good (usually they barely have to spin up).

So they can focus on next gen of shooters, you know, Call of Duty.

I can see how others are getting this feeling, but in Shenmue you were much more acquainted with your environment and the people in it, it was small and you became very familiar with the locations

I don't think after 20hrs (people reportedly finishing in this time) that I'll have that same feeling, it's just too big and spread out. The only time I had that feeling was with Shenmue, and it sucks that they never made a third Crying or Very sad

yeah that feeling of familiarity is what im talking about. i have already met with one of the street vendors twice for missions at the start, and got quite cozy in the area around the first apartment. i guess the more i play the bigger and less cozy it will feel...

With mouse/keyboard, you just move mouse up and down and then click to lock the tumbler.

Guess i found out why the so called 1.4 version advanced options save fix works for some and not for others. Seems its fixed for some because the problems lies in UI.big and UI.bix files. Mine (ENG/RU) files are different than MULTI versions. When i used UI.big and UI.bix from MULTI versions the problem got fixed.

I'm finished and have 23 hours clocked up. I'd say there would be at least 3-5 hours of just tooling around, doing side quests, running down peds, etc. in that.

I never really got the Shenmue vibe. I guess there are some similarities, things like the combat QTEs for example. I'm sure they took some inspiration from it, but only in a minor way.

Because everyone is exhausted by playing it?! Very Happy

Or they are in process of playing this game?! Laughing

Of course, some might be with a coffee and a cigarette in their face (morning here), trying to actually wake up...

Western scene is down the drain for quite some time. But, well, they do still manage to push something nice from time to time, just not so often as they used to...I miss the crack wars, the proper dox files, with no update and no guide ever misssed, the release of trainers for every game version. Those times are gone...

Damn, I'm old if i can remember those days....

I made a different profile in the mouse driver for the game and it's better now. I managed to even the axis too. There's still a problem that I can't do anything about it though and that's actually THE problem with the camera in this game. It follows the character when you're moving and if you try to look around it feels so wonky. I really hope they fix this. Sad Maybe add an option for a free camera?!

Tried clean installing "DLC Repack" release, game still refuses to start. I'm now 3 releases down. Don't know if it's a crack issue or if the legit game would also refuse to work, but no Sleeping Dogs for me for now.

Try this:

1) Grab the steam unlocked release (the ali213 one)
2) Grab the High Res Textures (again from ali213)
3) Copy the High Res Textures into main folder of the unlocked release
4) Download the 35mb exe release from ali213 and copy it inside the main Sleeping Dogs folder
5) Run the above mentioned exe and wait 3 minutes. It will update your game and crack it for you
6) You are now ready to run the game executable. This way your game will work 100%.

Anyone know how to register your game when you have the steam version? There's no code in the digital manual for the "add game" section Sad

And during the night then for you guys?

For me during the night:

Change in settings for shadow resolution does nothing..

Seems like at night they just have some very diffuse blob shadows as if from an overhead light, regardless of the actual lightsource position.

I don't know, but it definitely feels like there's a few (hundred) cutscenes and emails missing. You go from one mission to another, with orders and objectives that came from nowhere, it's bizarre.

I have the same feeling, something is really off with this game. There is no flow, not in the main story and not in the side stories (especially the romance). Sometimes the transitions are so sudden, I feel like I missed a couple of missions. The game does not feel like a beta or some half-assed effort, far from it, but there is definitely something not right here.

Dunno what the keys are on M/KB, but they did tweak it in a patch to make it easier. With a controller the right stick moves the pins, then you lock them in place with the left stick when they turn green.

Man i can't get into this shit, with it's split second reaction time requirement in combat. fack :<

It's not really split second. Attacks are telegraphed plain as day. The only thing that does require some degree of timing is the QTEs for certain special attacks some enemies do, like grapplers.

dem grapplers are fuked up i love em

i love dis game especially because it has no difficulty setting and its kinda difficult iw as afraid that when they gave me no option i was gonna go on a cakewalk but i went to hospital 17 times already and i havent even started the first mission

big props to the chases and the graphics but some o'dat enviroments are recycled way too quickly, come on, son, you can do better than that, the shooting sucks but i dont use it so who cares, aside from that all is good this is the best sandbox game ever

So, not only does the game take a HUGE wet dump all over Protoshit 2 (technically wise), it does so running at pretty much double the framerate, judging from the benchmark. Shocked

But Prototype 2 wasn't a bad port, nononononono... Laughing

That's just it, games/ports like this one SHOULD set the standard for all others.

But no, instead we still get shit like Protolol2 and, unfortunately, Dark Souls in the year of our Lord 2012. Sad
