EU servers are down for emergency maintenance (not scheduled).
Just finished for a second time, went back into main, did some AH stuff and now just entered hell mode.. Seems to work here, so prolly only login servers

This thing its just appalling! How can anyone claim ther´s anything good (for the player/ customer) about going always online with a Single Player game.

second,I did say they changed core stuff,yes,they did simpleized some stuff,but stuff that DID have to be simpleized,(and no one forcing you to change builds),it doesn't mean they "dumbed down" the game,there were discussion here which proves they actually improved the builds options,and the difficulty level from Diablo 2 actually been increased signify in all levels,and it's

My bad then, I Guess our guy was just complaining about the online only part, which wasn't needed in Diablo 2 then. I feel bad for whoever cannot play it today because of the server issues. I have a friend who was killing Diablo in Nightmare and he got disconnected just now and can't reconnect. What a nice "feature" isn't it ?
Finally, fanboys are bad, yes, because they are biased in their judgement. WHatever they see in the game (no mana potion, no skill tree) will always be seen as features, no matter what you say, they will always find every aspect of the game amazing.
But come on, no game is amazing, all games has its issues, and Diablo 3 is part of it. Nonetheless, the game is still good, but not the messiah. There is nothing special about it, that makes it better than Max Payne 3 and like the holy grail of video gaming. That was my point.

PS : I was a fan of Diablo 1 & 2 and I'm really disappointed with what I played of Diablo 3 (the beta). Just like I was with StarCraft II which felt like a step down compared to Warcraft III, back then when Blizzard wasn't all about WoW and made innovative games.

Expensive, but there should be people willing to buy anything i think.

I Disagree,Starcraft 2 wasn't meant to be WC3 ,and it's actually better then the original imo,not the mention it's far more competitive game then Warcraft series(if DOTA not included)though WC3 did have better mods.

I don't really mind that they do maintenance, except that this time I had Nephalem Valor buff and headed to kill Diablo on Hell difficulty. Now I'll have to kill him without the buff and get less loot

yeah that's what I was wondering too. It's good that I read somewhere that Blizzard will get rid off weekly maintenance later (I guess when they iron out all kinks D3 has atm) except for when there's patch. Still GW1 was phenomenal with its server uptime, there were only like 3 service disruptions since it came out, even all updates were streamed and applied without server restarts.

I mean, you have more gatherings in Guild Wars than you do in diablo. 4 players in pve in diablo (no idea about pvp though).
Or am I wrong? (I could be - havent really checked into it since I only play with my gf)

It's an MMO, whether they classify it as such or not. In any case it's an ONLINE game. Diablo 3 singleplayer should not be an online game, because its SINGLEPLAYER.
I understand their reasoning for doing it, both to prevent cheaters and as a form of DRM, but they could have easily included an option for non-battlenet characters for singleplayer and LAN play.
