Hey, all I'm defending is the game itself, not Namco or FROM's decisions with this port. Unlike Sabin, I have actually played the game and aside from a few frame rate mishaps (which appear to be fixed in the PC version anyway) the game is insane amounts of fun and both a joy to play and watch.

All I know is that a 100% faithful reproduction of Dark Souls is still way and beyond better than any other game released this year. Whether you think it's worth the purchase is completely up to you, but I'm very much looking forward to the new content and finally being able to play the game with an even frame rate with my PC-exclusive buddies. It's gonna be a blast.

Nothing like using a wide gamut monitor for standard gamut content, huh? Accurate dude! Laughing

I'm a designer and work with an extended print gamut. So yeah, it's print-perfect accurate.

The point is it's NOT accurate for games, including Dark Souls. It's not one of the absolute best for image quality for almost any purpose other than your work since almost everything such as Windows desktop, games, movies and most digital photos are designed for standard gamut.

Hence why it also includes an sRGB mode.

Though according to TFTcentral's measurements, sRGB mode still applies the same wide gamut. Not uncommon, and often even if a wide gamut monitor tried to emulate sRGB it misses the mark significantly.

It has hardware sRGB support and it's own ICM profile. Read reviews for it and they'll confirm it's a fantastic monitor, especially for areas such as print where colour reproduction is essential. For gaming, 100% colour proofing isn't critical to me and the concern is overall picture quality, sharpness etc.. I even play the game with more brightness, just to make darker areas more visible for PVP.

Trust me, it's completely fine and if you're sat at your monitor playing games, looking for 1 pixel slighted hue shifted whilst holding your controller, you've probably got bigger issues than your monitors gamut, heh.

Just saying that the monitor isn't quite so good for evaluating game graphics as you made it out to be. In fact, since it's apparently not capable of sRGB even though it claims to be, it's fairly bad for it. I'm sure it's great for wide gamut purposes.

Graphics is more than just colour and like I said, the difference in hue shift would probably not be noticeable by human eyes anyway. You're making a straw man argument out of something very silly indeed. I've never once had an issue with colour and I work with it for a living. Colour isn't the issue with Dark Souls anyway, rather the internal resolution rendering and the base texture art size.

I don't care what you think about the game's graphics, I just noted a logical flaw in your argument. If you think the game looks fine, fine. You just made it seem like your opinion's validity is elevated by your monitor because it's so "awesome", while in fact it probably shows the game with decidedly less accuracy than IPS monitors with a standard gamut screen.

"While default colour accuracy was pretty poor, once calibrated the screen offered the best colour results we have seen in our reviews."

Nuff said.

For wide gamut use. The CIE diagram speaks volumes of sRGB accuracy. In fact, I've never seen an sRGB monitor that performed so badly in that area. Claiming that the eye wouldn't spot the error is like claiming color accuracy is meaningless. The error there is monumental compared to many monitors that are criticized for missing the target points.

You're talking about out-of-the-box sRGB settings, not calibrated settings.

"However, the decent pixel responsivenss, combined with pretty good input lag, could make this a good screen for gamers, as well as those wanting an excellent all round performer. If you want a 24" monitor, this is a hard one to beat in my opinion."

So yeah, it's basically better than all other 24" monitors released before 2010 and your argument is that the colour in Dark Souls isn't reproduced properly and every other PC gamers screen does it right, even though 99.9% of people probably don't even know how to calibrate their monitor? LOL, move on already. There's being pedantic and then there's just being downright retarded.

I suppose the reviewer simply ignored the massive error due to it being a wide gamut monitor and therefore usually par of course. Doesn't make it any more accurate. The cold facts are there, the reviewer's subjective opinion is secondary.

How can you hear me with your fingers in your ears shouting "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA" when someone disagrees with you? LOL you're a joke. The way you present yourself on here makes you look like the absolute epitome of the PC neck beard. I still LOL at that time you were ripping into that guy who posted a video of playing a game on youtube early, calling him "a dirty pirate" Laughing

Again, you're confusing default sRGB settings with those which are calibrated. Read the review again, he makes the whole point in the conclusion that the calibrated settings are the best he's seen from an IPS monitor.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about .. but you truly are a sad little man, Cohen. Nobody cares about your fantasy life... it's really rather sad to see how deeply into your fantasy that you really are. Do everyone a favour and just go away. Go on. Shoo.

You didn't get that impression either? I pegged him the instant he started bragging. Oh wait... I don't mean "started" I mean "continued" Laughing Bragging about a fantasy life and fantasy objects/possessions that don't exist... holy shit.. that is by far the saddest and creepiest thing I've ever seen -- and just yesterday I saw a black man french-kissing his love-doll.

All I know is 50,000 posts on an internet forum is an obscene amount. That's at least 50,000 minutes of your life you'll never get back and considering the length of his posts, it's more likely to be much, much more. All while supposedly playing every video game ever made... and I'm the sad one? LOL

Typical neckbeard logic Smile
