To be honest, I'm more inclined to blame ATi than id... because just look at the 360; powered by an ancient Radeon and there's no issues with RAGE there. It's ATi, the idiots keep breaking shit all the time >_>
No, it's id's fault for not testing it. ATi has nothing to do with it.
Sure there is no problem with Rage on 360 and it works 60fps all the time but resolution is like 720p and LOWERING dynamically when thing get heavy and there is no aa.
I've finished Rage on my 5yo pc of doom 60fps, 1680x1050 2xaa not exture problems. So guess I was lucky, because people with new computers had problems

fuck a sequel, fix the first game first! if bioware can release a shitty dlc to... well adjust, given that it didnt fix, the ending - surely id can do the same. dont talk shit, DO shit!! fix the ending of rage, and it'll go a long way to making rage 2 go over a lot better.
as for the rest of the issues, thankfully i didnt encounter them, because i played it after 2 patches and had no problems.
apart from once WHERE A FUCKING SAVE GAME GOT CORRUPTED. motherfucker, that shit hasnt happened since i rage deleted arkham asylum when i got a corrupted save just before the final battle. rage's corrupt save set me back about an hour, when i had my last autosave
What was Carmack supposed to do? Optimize his engine? The master programmer does not bow for Nvidia and Ati, Nvidia and Ati bow for the master programmer.

leaving aside tehnical problems, game still is not good; it beggins pretty cool, but in time it gets lifeless and boring, no atmosphere, immersion, quests start looking the same and shit like that

complete opposite to my experience. i found it started terribly, and had zero focus (with its endless random fetchquests and such), and only started to get interesting when the plot actually finally kicked in, towards the end of wellspring (about 2 thirds of the way through)
also thought the later levels looked better too, and became more interesting. final mission/ending though - no question - total shambles.
I thought the game was alright. Nothing stellar, it felt like a game from a classic 90's developer that still hasn't learned quite how to cope in a post-DOS world. I hope Carmack will bounce back and really deliver on DOOM4, he seems like a pretty cool dude in real life and it'd be nice to see him recapture that Wolf3D/Doom/Quake magic one more time.

While I'd love for that as well, as long as he's leashed by a console-focused company, it's not going to happen. It CAN'T happen. Literally. They simply will not allow it. Whether it's financial BS or some other excuse they use .
I thought the combat and ability to build little robots to be fun. Upgrading the vehicle was a nice touch, too.
Unfortunately, there just wasn't much of a game to use all that stuff. The game felt scripted, some areas didn't respawn enemies unless a quest required you to return. The world and its scope felt so much smaller than I had expected. The ending, of course, felt rushed and poorly thought out.
I guess I just set myself up for disappointment because I expected a sandbox rpg kind of game.
i think the vehicle thing would have been great if it'd been more useful - ie, if you had a big open world to travel (fallout 3 size for example), so pimping out your car REALLY mattered, and was integral to exploration... where you could even salvage derelict or defeated cars to really make yourself a wasteland juggernaut...
but as it stood, just having small areas to use your car in to get from point to point, just made it feel kinda shallow and superficial... and frankly, kinda unnecessary (even annoying, when youre just trying to get to a mission, and always encounter the same 3 guys in the same spots every time...
STILL enjoyed the game, but what im saying, is that i feel id just stuffed around too much with half-baked fluff and 'toys' instead of either properly developing them, or focusing primarily on a strong base.
the robots were kinda fun, but they didnt feel like anything special. i would have LOVED it if you had to FIND schematics in the world, fallout style.. because then its like youve discovered an edge, rather than just 'using' a tool that the developers wanted you to have access to.
See, he talks about how sorry he is for the terrible ending and the shitty optimisation/visual issues.... but that's it. It's just apologies and acknowledgements. What about RESOLUTIONS!? Has Carmack even said ANYTHING about new content for RAGE? A sequel? Follow-up? Mod tools? Anything whatsoever, for us few RAGE fans out there, that would possibly fix some of the issues?
He still blames drivers for rage's crappy launch. lol then why the fuck other devs have much more stable launches? They should be developing 2d tetris games instead of complex 3d games, because they simply suck at it.
Yeah! Those bastards! How dare they make Quake/2/3/4 and Doom3 (not to mention the earlier games which pretty much put the first-person shooter genre on the map) -- they obviously suck at it! BOO!!! Go back to Tetris, id! YOU SUCK!

Quake 2 was pretty good, anything else - not so much imo. You liked Quake 4? I find that hard to believe. Their games - shovelware. IDshovelsoftware.
You are so unbelievably full of it You're going to sit here and, with a straight face, claim that Wolf3D/Doom/Quake/Quake3 are all "not very good"? You can argue RAGE and Quake 4 if you wish... but the predecessors? That's hilarious
Well, they had their golden years, but its all gone now. There are more capable developers who can magically make games that work on day 1. IDshovelsoftware apparently lacks experience in this. You know like 'duh your game does not work on like 50% of video cards'. Nah fuck it, release it as it is, cuz we dont care about quality especialy on this so called PC platform. Ewww, pesky pirates'.
