Why on all of the videos they are shooting straight in torso and no one is trying to disable the mechs shooting in the legs?

I don't know about the beta videos, but the devs have already said that disabling the legs is certainly possible in MWO, though it appears the destruction of legs doesn't disable your mech (like in MW2/3) but rather it cripples you and halves your movement/etc speed (such as MW4)

Besides, in earlier games disabling was mostly for getting more resource, equipment and even damaged mechs as possible. since this is an online game with no capturing, there is really no point in going for the legs. They are small targets with little payoff. Go for the cockpit.

Heh.. I used to play Mech Commander with my finger pretty much glued to the "8" key on the numpad so as to constantly target the cockpit Salvage, baby! I guess the only use of targeting the legs in MWO is basically to just be a dick...

One destroyed leg cripples you and makes you move very slowly, two equals dead. The biggest reason people go for the torso is simply because it's easier. It's a larger target, especially with lasers that you need to keep on the location for a couple of seconds if you want to do full damage. Easier to do that on the central torso than on a leg that's constantly moving.
Yeah, that random bullshit sucks. If you pay into the founders club then you should get your beta access immediately, else what the hell are you paying for?

I belive originally every founder was supposed to get in at the 7th or something like that, but they decided to start letting people in early to not have the servers explode when by letting everyone in at once, but by the 7th everyone will be in.
Sure, I have no doubts it feels annoying to not get in, but you still get what you paid for imo.
Well like you said, there are people who paid $120 and haven't been allowed into the beta yet.. while others who haven't paid at all are playing right now. Hardly seems fair if you ask me.

Hmm... that's strange because it clearly states on their website that no matter how much you will pay it grants you access to the beta on the 7th of August.
I checked the forums - "the founders" have priorty in getting an invite to Closed Beta 1 - the one that is taking place now. So your chance to getting into it now is higher if you paid them. And the founders have guaranteed access to Closed Beta 2 - the one that will start on the 7th.

There's no more waiting until the 7th for Founders, you now get immediate access to the beta -- as it should have been from the start. I'm all for random selection when it comes to beta access, but if you're asking people to pay for so-called "founder" access -- then damn it they should come first
If you buy founders it's instant beta access right now.
I bought the $120 package myself. Played on my friends account for a couple of days and really enjoyed it. The $120 package isn't that bad when you consider it comes with 3 months of subscription + $80 in game credits.
Does the beta run 24/7 till release, or are the servers only up during specific periods?
I have fond memories of Mechwarrior 4 - Mercenaries, but the lowest tier of $30 is pretty fucking expensive, given its F2P nature, so I'm on the fence. I think I liked it more for the SP squad aspect/banter, and can't help but think MP would simply devolve into half a dozen effective combos with the rest falling by the wayside.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

This game has way more to do with skill then it does what equipment you are using.
I've soloed heavies in my Jenner.
I opted to drop the jumpjets from my jenner and use the free weight on the anti-missle system instead. This means I can run around without worrying about LRM's raping me. Any team mates around me are protected by it as well. Then I close the distance on a bigger mech and go to town on it's main weapon system. The chaos from my fast movement alone causes the entire enemy team to break their lines to try to deal with me. I'll fuck with bigger mechs and take out their important shit, all the while running around their base cap area slowly capping the base.
That being said, all it takes is a couple good shots from a bigger mech to kill me. It's just that most people suck at aiming.
Meanwhile, the big mechs are just brutal in their own right. They require a bit more teamwork as it's best to walk in a group of 3-4 to prevent any smaller mechs from getting to you.
IMO the only mechs that need balance work done are the medium mechs. The medium mechs to me seem worthless. They don't have much better firepower then light mechs, but move a hell of a lot slower along with being a bigger target. Either go small and stay fast or go big.
$30 for founder status isn't expensive when you realize that it also includes $40 of in game purchases. Thats a fucking good deal if you ask me.
