I don't know what your relations are with your grandparents, mine have been pretty shitty - apart for the one I had with my grandfather. He was an inspiration to me, a man who; served in the army, and volounteered to aid Finland when Soviet invaded our neighbour country during the finnish winter war. He lost two of his brothers there.
Parents, and grandparents in my experience don't care very much, but this man attended all my graduations, and came on most of my birthdays. Not that I asked him, he just was that sort of man. Respectful and didn't judge/speak ill of anyone while I was in contact with him.
He was a rather poor man, who was married for some 20 years to a survivor of the concentration camps who was in the Polish nobility (though lost everything during the nazi invasion). His wife (not a relative in a blood sense) passed away very recently too, and it seemed as if he would soon follow.
In his later months he was drifting away, so it didn't really come out of the sky, and unexpected. It still struck me quite hard.
I'll always remember the days when we were out in a boat in the lake of Sommen (near Tranas in Sweden) and the rain storm came. The weather (and the water in tantrum) made every one of us sick, except my grandfather - he just stood in the pouring rain (and thunder) and navigated the boat as if though nothing was going on.
Farewell Olof.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

hey i'm sorry to hear that bud...
think of it this way... if there is a heaven then he is in it, with his wife and he is all better and happy... he has paid his dues to this world and i guess deserves his time off...
don't cry over his death, praise his accomplishments instead ( as you did) and put a smile on ur face for having a great grandfather...

I never had a grandfather as both died before i was born, but the death of people that at one point or another touched one's soul and changed one's life is always hard. The closer the people have been, the harder the pain.
Do as Max said, try to remember the good stuff and be happy that you had the opportunity to get to know someone like that...

My grandparents are tossers, sooner they are out the way the better
dumped my dad off with other people, then at the age of 4 demanded him
back. They also treated my mum like crap, because they wanted someone
closer to the family.

Sorry about your loss fisk. I remember my Granddad. I was walking to school one day and its pissing down with rain. He went past on a bus and threw out 50p. The sun shone the rest of the day for me back then. Ahh I still miss him.

Sorry to hear it Fisk....death is never cool and never easy. But, to me anyhow, death is evolution...u don't really die, u ascend to another level of existence. So in essence, I don't think the dead are dead. They just live somewhere else...kinda comforting in a way i suppose
Just remember dude, anytime u wanna talk to him, just do it and he'll be there listening still

condolences bro. It's never easy to lose someone. He sounds like a real good guy. I agree with Max and Lutzifer when they say "try to remember the good stuff and be happy that you had the opportunity to get to know someone like that"

Well at least you have good memories, thats something. Most people don't even get that.
