Installed it on my sisters new PC (Which is my old PC but with some upgrades.) and I'm not too fond of it but I suppose it might work, certainly is quite fast and has some neat security options at least.

Also it seems Metro was trademarked so Microsoft might call it something else now?

I must admit, it's the first time since win98 that I don't install the new version on day-1... tried the ReleasePreview and usability has gone down the shitter... not bothering with the RTM until someone figures out a hack/mod to re-enable the classic start menu and removing the metro shit.

I read somewhere that they completely removed the possibility to hack/mod it in, but for all i know it could be bullshit.

This is gonna sell a lot tho, because of how cheap Microsoft is selling it for. But a cheap ho' gets you all kinds of diseases.

Microsoft makes most of its profits from enterprise subscriptions, and obviously, this is not going to sell there. It is not even marketed for business anymore, they say it's a perfect companion for Windows 7. Laughing OEMs will bring in some cash at first, but it remains to be seen if the general public will tolerate it. I sincerely hope they don't. I hope the public, once it gets the feel for it, wishes to downgrade to 7. Shit, I hope Apple hammers them with this bullshit. I hope Apple hammers and scores points.

Anyone taken a look at Office 2012? It is even more ridiculous than Windows 8.

I really wonder what Microsoft's shareholders will think about this sinking ship.

Well, look at the bright side. When Micro$oft dumbasses realize the shit they've made the sooner we will have WIN 9 or whatever they intend to release after this crap. Wink

It would be interesting in the world of computers if Microsoft all went completely bankrupt and there would be no more Windows, at all. Then we'd all be using Google OS grinhurt

Microsoft won't go bankrupt - let's not kid ourselves. (Well, unless everyone acquires a magnet. Laughing ) But it would be a very hard blow if they have to release a Windows 9 that is basically Windows 7 improved. grinhurt

I haven't really bothered looking into Windows 8 alot, to be honest the only thing keeping loyal to Windows at this point is all the games i own. If i could run those natively in Linux i would be gone. But with that said i think Windows 7 is a good os and i was hoping to be impressed with Windows 8 but i was let down when they chose to focus so much on a gui which that clearly is made for touch-screens. ..

So bored... might as well as give it a shot.

Tri-boot, here I come! grinhurt

EDIT: So instead of having the "desktop" as the foundation on a desktop system and "metro" as a completely optional app they went the other way around?! Laughing

Smooth boot manager though Very Happy

What's the fascination with boot loading times anyway? Big fucking deal, how many times do you boot your PC? Does it matter so much if it takes 5 seconds to boot than 20? I would think everyday productivity would matter much more than boot times. Smile

Its not only that, it also uses fewer memory. There is no point for me to go back to Windows 7.
Some settings feels kinda strange, but as long everything works, why not use it.
Would be good to have something to remove "activate windows watermark". Very Happy

It uses less memory? I think that's a retarded reason to use an os right now, we have 4gb as a standard, whether your os uses 200 or 300mb of allocated memory doesn't matter anymore.

In fact, what microsoft hasn't gotten around to their head is that they should ALL the memory ALL the time to speed up the system like linux does with its memory management. Windows 7 has something like this but for some reason its limited to 33% ram.

It wasn't limited in Vista, and you had retards saying it was a system hog, not understanding the system would release the memory when needed. Laughing Damned if you, damned if you don't...

But then a tool like process explorer would expose differently, and then they would be branded as liars. Laughing
People should stop crying about every used MB. You had the resident dumbo DV2 here cry about AERO taking 4MB or precious RAM - I mean come on! Laughing

There seems to be a method of importing Windows 7's Explorer.exe into Windows 8. Could be interesting. Smile
