Honestly Phil, just how old are you (12 years with your current girlfriend/wife, not counting your "side dishes" - would put you close to, if not over 30)? Without trying to be offensive (but you'll probably take it as such anyway), everything about how you behave screams teenager and puberty.
"lol cheating is so much fun hurr durr"
"NOOOOO he called me an idiot on the intarwebz, ignore nau"
i wish i was a hacker so i could get phil's ip, and all his info and post it up here, preferably with his secret folder pics of crossdressing and getting spanked by midgets in gimp suits, and sucking dongs for pocket change to buy extra arma 2 keys

I guesses hacking is too big a word for this, some call hem scripters. Having looked at some dayZ streams seems there are many active again with the choppers back.
Edit: The endgame with these choppers seems to be flying around spotting tents, vehicles and rob other people blind. We should have underground bases and when established we should be able to spawn there instead.

Rocket has been talking about this, being able to build underground bases.
I know but now I understand why it is a good idea. A NPC defended above ground base is too much MMO like I guess. But collecting some gear in a tent so others can easily steal it is not my idea of playing survivor in this game. But I guess you can play this mod many ways, like playing Duke Nukem in Elektra and Cherno, playing sniper, repair chopper and fly around playing thief.
There is also the Chernarus Life counterpart, servers were not that populated the last time i tried it.Been playing a lot of Insurgency with ACE/ACRE mod on the "Military Gaming" Server, very intense and worth a try
Im seriously considering getting this (ARMA II Combined operations on Steam that is and then of course the DayZ mod). Not sure how i missed it in the first place but ive been looking at some vids and a few other things (mechanics ect) and it look like the game/mod to get right now. I need something different from BF3 and it look like DayZ is it.
How long is the learning curve ? I know the map is gigantic so knowing all the ins and outs probably take a while. Also would some of you be willing to help me once i start ? I know some NFOHumpers are playing this regularly and id like to join once in a while and follow to learn. From what uve read teaming up with strangers is suicide most of the time in this game
Poor Mike.
I logged on right as you guys were killing him.
Anyway here's the highlights afterwards. I was riding the little girls bike. We found a tractor, a heli spawn, and Gandi!
I have become a part of the sniper faggot problem. Finally have a Ghillie and an AS50 (thanks to my alliance mates) and had my first one-shot headshot on a running survivor from 800 meters today

ArmA 2 has an in-game tutorial that can help you with the basics. DayZ doesn't really have a high learning curve once you're familiar with the ArmA 2 gameplay system.
Damn this game can frustrate you so much. I finally found a knife, hatchet, flares, wood, bullets, water bottle, sodas. Then as I go to the woods to make a safe spot three guys start firing away at me, with horrible aim. I made it all the way to the bottom of the hill before they finally got me (was going to try to draw some zombies towards them before I bled out. I kept saying unarmed friendly but these lil kids don't give a damn.
Logic is strength in numbers but no one ever seems to want to work together, trade soda for food, ect. They need to have random nighttime events where zombies flood into areas of the forest to simulate a growing population spreading out and to make the middle woods not seem like such a safe zone and the towns are all ww3 with no way to make player controlled forts or anything. It would be awesome if they eventually implemented a way to grow food, ect where setting up a fenced in community of a population that works together viable. I am kinda at a loss as to the point , I'm going to collect all the supplies I need, hide in the forest, rinse and repeat until I find a vehicle to drive for supplies then back to the woods to hide.
I guess as I've heard mentioned here before, you gotta make your own quests. Kinda like Mount and Blade. But at least that didn't have crazies at every corner (plus how do you start off as one of the few survivors in that island, but you survived with no starting weapon? Like our boat crashed and we were washed ashore to an island of a zombie apocalypse.
shit, found a fucking huge camp with one of my friends... shitloads of items there, lots of weapons there like M24 and the L85A2 AWS, tons of food, medicine & etc.
we just took some stuff and put it in the trunk of our quadbike.

that's why i wont bother playing this mod, this mod is really really for patient players, way to "slow" for me, idea is good, but perma death? that mod is for masochist people,..

like hardcore mode on diablo 3 always online.
oh wait, at least here i'm having fun!

I really like your ideas mistertpitydafoo , actually I do like anything that would make people cooperate instead of being either lone wolf snipers or groups of bandits wandering around just to piss people off. In the current state playing Dayz is like playing deathmatch with some random zombies on the side. It can be fun for a while, but there is no humanity left anymore and the original concept behind the mod has been lost.

It has been said dayZ is a social experiment. In fact it is an experiment in being asocial (kill on sight). To survive in this game for a long time, you need to work together. Chances you are going to find pals in the game are slim though. You need to find pals elsewhere.
