Project Giana is the grandchild of The Great Giana Sisters, a Super Mario Bros clone made by the now-deceased founder of our company in the eighties. Of course, Nintendo didn’t like that, and the sisters got pulled off the shelves. That’s ancient history now, and, in an ironic twist, a legit Giana game was released for the DS in 2009. That was a pretty awesome move from Nintendo, and we’re grateful!
Project Giana derives its name from our protagonist, a little girl stuck in a dream world. The “Project” part is a placeholder – the final title will be determined during the final stage of our kickstarter, and will take your feedback into account. Our game will be released on PC, with later releases on XBLA and PSN.
I can't tell you how many hours we all sunk into this on the C64! Myself, my mum and my elder brother all loved the SHIT out of the Great Giana Sisters.. the main theme is forever burned into my brain
~edit~
Holy shit... they managed to get Chris Hülsbeck’s music into it too!
I actually bought it for my iPad a while back, but for some reason I can't select the retro levels/visuals, they just don't work Also, on a related note; how do YOU guys spell the name? I always spelt it "Giana", as the developers did, yet there's a lot of contention from people who used the TITLE SCREEN spelling of "Gianna"

Ah, so this is where the Spellbound guys went. I'm pretty glad that it's in the hand of the German ex-Spellbound guys and even more that Hülsbeck is on this too.
1 week left and they've managed to raise $97k of the desired $150k. A lot of Kickstarters seem to have great backing spurts in the last few days, so I've got my fingers crossed on this Apparently a 2 level demo is coming out tomorrow (well, tomorrow being the 24th of August)
Ugh the second lvl is hard. Got stuck in the sceleton acid pool thing, can't jump high enough. Started to miss orginals bee jumps after that ghost lvl
Looks and sounds great, playability could be better, too many buttons IMO. Swapped S and space and it made a bit more sense. Original was 6, this is 8 buttons. 6 would have been enough here too. Jump pressed on air = twirl and dash button for 6th. Twirl or dash to change cute/punk mode.
