Hopefully ArmA 3 will not be as poorly optimized as ArmA 2...

Unlikely, seeing as how ARMA 1 ran poorly as does ARMA 2. It's a given that you need a monster PC to play these games and ARMA 3 doesn't look like it'll break that trend.

-BATTLEYE MUST BE ENABLED
- Minimum slot count of 40 (30 for countries where bandwidth is expensive i.e. developing countries)
- Their are only two reasons why you, as a server owner, should ban a player on your server. Those two reasons are: Malicious talk, and racism. You may not ban a user for stealing your loot, killing you, spying on you, etc.
- You may only kick for disruptive behavior (such as continued VOIP over side channel). But you may not kick due to race or language or because the person does something you do not like.
- Kicking for extremely excessive ping or desync is permitted, but if abused is grounds for blacklisting
Failure to adhere to these rules will BAN YOUR SERVER'S IP from DayZ. |

pretty strange, as when i fire up a server browser i see quite a few servers with maybe 2-3 players on them that are locked, and alot of them have been like that for a while. |
DE21 auto locked the server, when there were more than 4 people idling in the lobby. The lobby idlers got kicked pretty fast though (less than 2 minutes I think).
BTW You guys must be drunk or something. Open up the editor, add 40 units to the game, set the graphics to the HIGHEST and start the game. You won't see it dropping below 60fps (unless you activate AA). The game is really good optimized with beautiful visuals at higher settings.
It's just that the multiplayer speed, is somehow connected to the server :/ On some servers I have like 10-20 fps, on others 40-50 fps, with the same settings at the same location on the map. There sure is some need to do the optimization on mp code, but the gfx engine is quite nice
Still, ARMA III looks even better

It doesn't even has enough juice to run the game fluidly I'm 100% cpu limited

Yep it was Post processing causing it, HDR is still on full now.
But when it started again, i instantly disabled PP and then it was fixed.
Odd tho that PP causes this for me..

Yeah, but that is for the game itself, i'm just talking about serverwise here

It needs a dedicated server in co location, I am afraid. The bandwidth req. is kinda ridiculous.
I guess the database of spawned items, gear, zombies doesn't get cached locally.

Well for now yes, but not when there is fibre here.
Ill go for 100/100 instant (and maybe even 1000/1000 if that isn't retard high priced)

@sausje: It's going to be expensive if we get that in Nl. Perhaps for an experiment, provinces outside the "Randstad" will probably the late to get it.
Hmm thinking about caching stuff locally in dayZ. Zombies spawn when you get near certain locations and loot disappears over time or gets looted. Other players move around. There isn't a lot to cache locally. But I am pretty sure that the information from server to client isn't very optimised now.

Über internet is quite commonplace in Sweden these days, but I have not the hardware to host a server sadly, on top of that I'm on a shared connection... sure, that doesn't matter that much in the speeds of 100/100 and beyond.

I took a look at the dayZ code. It's easy to read and understand it But I'm still not able to find the proper place in the editor where I can add fucking flares onto my char, that behave like in DayZ (being a lightsource that is! )

KPN already offers 500/500 with HDTV and Phone for €86,- per month.

And this is just fresh, so others will follow with faster and cheaper soon

Anyone interested in hosting their own (non-hive) edition server should take a look at http://www.tunngle.net/community/topic/78211-guru-abduls-private-dayz-1723/
I had one up and running and quickly fill up with around 20 people last night (hosted from the same computer I was playing on). Ironically the server ran better for both my friends and I then any of the hive-based servers I usually frequent.
You also have full access to the DB to modify spawn loadouts, user locations, vehicle locations and whatever else you deem worthy of tweaking. Sometimes it's fun to just take a break from the normal stresses of this game and just have an all out MK4 deathmatch.
If you need help with this feel free to ping me, the process is fairly straightforward if you have any server knowledge.

it would be great if co location would be as accessable and affordable as in other places.
it wouldnt be too expensive to build a server with a second hand phenom 955 and overclock it, all it needs is a SSD ram and a psu. it would run any game server including dayz just nicely.
i once found colocation in cologne for 30 euros a month , you could even have it in a Pc case for 5 euros more a month ( huge cost saving not having to buy a rack and you are very limited to psu choice ) but then you see 300 GB bandwidth a month which quite a downer, i think i read on the dayz forums 2TB bandwidth a month is required.

Derpaderp question, is it safe to apply the new patch (1.62) to play Dayz or is it better to wait some days?

Get on TS, we don't check the forum while playing most of the time
Sad fucking bastard cunts on DE 754 (can I report them somewhere btw?). Lathi and I went to the North east airfield, just as we're approaching we hear someone shooting. So I go in, kill someone and Lathi comes in as well for the loot. I go further upstairs, and there's another guy who kills me; Lathi then kills him. Right after that? "You've been kicked from the game."
Pathetic little shits, now I'm nekkid again
