How does healing work in this game? I read that every class can heal.

Is there a specific line/build dedicated just for healing? I dont like tanking very much and pure dps is also not my cup of tea. I'd like to play healer/crowd control combo if that's even possible.

I think not but you need the beta key to be able to play it. I don't know if there are any free keys left tho.

Yes you can play support and control. But it is really a support, doesn't mean players don't have to take care of themselves.

You can read a bit more on that here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Support and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Control

Thank you. Looks like a good read.

I also found youtube video that explains removal of a dedicated healer class.

Concept looks interesting.

It's pretty old video though. Dunno how accurate it is.

Anyway I found some quick example video of elementalist using skill combo to achieve AoE heal for his allies.

Notce how he cast skill Geyser to create water combo field, followed by Arcane Wave which causes area healing for his teammates.

You can read up on combos more here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo

Of course there are also some skills that support/heal your allies as soon as you cast them directly. But they often have a very long cooldown, the skill combo that apply area healing above has cooldown about 20seconds so you can use it quite often. So, the skill combos will be a very important aspect of the game, and I get a feeling that no that many people know about it.

Apparently not all gameplay videos seem to do the game justice. This video, however, is an exception.

Repost, I know, but totally worth to watch once more.

I'm really interested in how they improved the performance since the last betas too. Especially since they invited thousand upon thousands new players to try the game, as well as reduced the amount of servers from 96 (48EU, 48US) to 42 (24EU, 18US). I guess they feel really confident in their optimization on both the client and the server. The starting areas will be swarming with players, as they wiped everything from the last betas. New and old players alike will start from scratch this beta.

Or maybe they just use those 54 as overflow servers, which makes sense. Smile Dunno how about WvW and its ~2500 players limit. We'll so how it goes, hopefully ArenaNet is really prepared. If not it wouldn't make a best impression on new players.

Anyone knows how starting areas are set up?

A level 1 rat spawns and there's a race who's gonna kill him first with the usual insulting of a guy who wasn't fast enough to get to it first.

They've said servers were a bit empty last time around so that's why they decrease their number this time. They also said they can quickly increase the cap if it's going to be needed even without server restarts.

World transfer will be free and unlimited from Noon July 20 to 6:00 PM Pacific on July 21. After this period, you’ll need to spend gems for a transfer. Transfers will still be unlimited. The gem costs for a world transfer after 6:00 PM Pacific on July 21:
1800 gems to transfer to a high population world
1000 gems to transfer to a medium population world
500 gems to transfer to a low population world

Not in that sense, no. There is no kill stealing, no ore/herb stealing of any sorts. The only problem besides poorer performance in first beta weekend was how the dynamic events worked when the zone was full. They acknowledged this and worked on it, it was already improved in BWE2, but they say they weren't finished and there will be more improvements in this beta. We'll see. But you'll not have to wait in a queue to get into server, or to kill boss for quest or anything. Don't worry.

Thanks, super buddy. I can't wait for beta to start tonight.

Heh, who knows, maybe they will let the servers go online a little bit earlier, so all the people wont be pounding at the login server at the same time.
