indeed. there is no real argument there, eve is so open , if you dont like the wsy something is going , you have the ability to change it unlike most MMO's that follow a structured path.

I love the concept of EVE, totally free to do whatever you want but I just cant get into it. Played the beta back in the day and have tried a few times to play it but everytime I do it just feels empty. Shame the combat wasnt more fun atleast so you could just do that to lvl up or that bounty hunter isnt more viable as that takes time and wont earn you much credits.
Id like a follow up to EVE with more direct control of your ship, asteroid fights etc something like a mix between Freelancer and EVE

If you can't spell it, don't use it.
BaronOfHell is right here. EVE is a sandbox, if it's too hard, you are too soft.

Hey guys, I played some Eve Online one and a half years ago and if I remember right I have a ~20m SP Caldari T3 pilot.
I was wondering what came out since then. Also I was doing a lot of level 4 (no WH though) missions in my T3 at the time and very little pvp. Is there anything new pve wise ?

No, devs focus on the primary part of EVE: PvP.

One of the flaws of EVE, and nearly every true sandbox, is that if you have no ambition or imagination, they are more or less impossible to get into. It does not provide a linear progression that most people are used to, so typically just get bored..
You don't need to do anything to 'level up', just a way to make some space bux to keep you afloat, and there are dozens of ways to do so, combat and non-combat related.
Personally I love the combat in EVE, it's leagues about the shit you see in most games. It has incredible mechanical depth. Most people jump into EVE and click orbit at 500m, press their attack buttons and then complain about it without taking the time to study it.
Mastering and applying said mechanics is what allows an ill equipped player to defeat a more advanced one. It is one of the few MMO combat systems that allow you to gain an advantage over numerically superior forces or older players, by using your brain instead of your reactions.
The game ultimately only gives back what you put in, and it certainly can be difficult to get it to click. Took me at least three or four trials over the years. I'm sure EVE isn't for everyone but combat surely isn't the games problem.

What path should i go to learn and start enjoying? im playing to keep doing some quests and buy a 3-4 mil isk ship to battle etc, im at Arnon, but i dont know if i should go the quests paths, any tips? ships to buy? things to do on the side? quests?

If youre coming back and are looking to get back into the game somewhat, The new tutorials are alot more helpfull then the old ones(Learn you how to scan etc) and besides that the sisters arc is a really good starting point.
If you need some help ingame send me a ingame mail(Ingame toon name is Cyrus Deacon) I can help you out equipment/ship wise, get you in a tax free corp etc.

That's pretty fucking terrible, but i guess you are biased seeing as you seem to favoritise PvP. You get thrown in the game doing quests for this and that person and gain loyalty. NOT much to ask to keep them developing more PvE content. And by PvE content, i mean quests and not raiding or anything like that. Would be awesome killing huge boss kind of ships though with a group.

Theyve added enough pve content the past few expansions. Incursions are a pretty big chunk of PVE right there. Final culmination of an incursion is engaging one of those sansha motherships iirc(Not into pve too much myself)

Makes sense why you are having trouble- destroyers are deathtraps. Offensively they are very impressive against frigates, but defensively poor, for both speed and tank. If you are talking about real drones, you need a sensor booster to improve lock-times, possibly even a tracking booster to be able to hit them (webifier might work too). If are you referring to AI drones, you might need to be actively tanking against resist they hit with, mission PVE often revolves around this.
I would also recommend an agile frigate with a good tank over a destroyer.. a destroyer often simply cannot field a sufficient defense, and cannot break off when the going gets tough. You could also always try using rails and overdrives, maintaining distance with no tank.
Of course, you could also go the opposite direction, bring in a cheap cruiser with light drones.
As for re-learning the game, you should probably check out the official forums, or search around somethingawful for guides (or similar gaming forums).

You'll be ridiculed ingame if you call the missions "quests".
Anyway, if you want to be a mission runner, the progression goes like this:
L1 frig, destroyer, L2 cruiser, L3 battle cruiser, L4 battleship, faction BS
Just doing the tutorials and the Sisters story arc gets you enough cash and skills to put you in a cruiser. From there you can decide whether you want to keep running missions (easy cash, safe (mostly), but super boring after a while) or focus on sth else.

Oh, never enter low-sec or 0.0 without being prepared to lose everything you have in your ship (and your ship itself). So many people enter these areas, ignore the warnings the game puts in front of them and then rage or act surprised when they get blown to pieces by pirates or other opportunists.

Happened to me. I did not realize i was in lowsec as i was alt tabbed the entire journey and never got a warning. And some guy shot me down, and i completely lost it. Started playing 2 days ago and the entire duration has been skilling up for a ship. I got everything and i managed to buy missiles in a lowsec area without realizing as i just started the game it's easy to overlook such things. So in the end, i got compensated, my items back, joined a alliance and got a few new friends.

Sorry but I dont get the never got a warning thing. set AP trough low sec, you get a box saying you are doing so, Jump into low sec you get a box asking you if youre sure. Enough measures like that in place to make you realize where you are.

someone linked a picture of the warning box. I never got it. I was in a high sec station and set my destination to where i had my rockets (lowsec) and i alt tabbed back into the game when i was almost there and got shot down.
Believe what you will, makes no difference to me.
Someone also told me where to reset the warning, but in the reset part of settings there are none.
