True, i was just thinking that it's a good space saver having the one console do everything.

Lovin' my glitched console. Can anyone provide me with an invite to Blackcats? I'd very much appreciate it as some of the stuff for older games is a bitch to find otherwise.

Quick (possibly noob) question about RGH+FSD+external hard drive: will this play backups for all games, or is it similar to the situation with PS3 where some game backups won't play?

Quick question about avatars: I've got the latest FSD installed, but can't get my avatar to show up, or even get to edit it. My dash is also on the latest one...the 574 (?) one or whatever it is. How would I get the avatar stuff to show up so I can access it and change my avatar? Thanks.

Get the offical update from Mircosoft (google systemupdate 15574, top link) extract it and rename the folder $$ystemUpdate.
Stick this on a pen drive USB and plug it into your console, update and your avatar's will be back.

sure for already RGH hacked consoles it will work but like Sabin said, if you are planning to do RGH in the future and you update to 15547 you can not do the RGH hack anymore (unless you have a backup of the consoles nand of old dash (14719 and before) but if you do not have RGH hack then you obviously you also do not have an backup of your nand).

can anyone direct me to a tutorial for playing original xbox games via FSD?
either that or the easiest method i've read about is to use xexmenu but don't know how to install/run it since my console boots into FSD by default.
thx

first placed i looked was the sticky but i really couldn't see anything related to playing original xbox games.
there's some info about the various programs like xexmenu but not how to install and boot into it.
mind you i'm one of those noobs who bought his RGH so maybe i'm not seeing something i should be seeing... so yea..

ah that tutorial(with links and everything) is exactly what's needed.
however, it recommends the use of xexmenu which goes back to my first post... how would you install xexmenu and manually switch between that and FSD since my console boots into FSD by default?
i would use FSD but it requires more work than is needed and even then he mentions it's still glitchy... hell, i even had problems when setting the path to recognize the contents of my external HDD when i first got the console back.
thx for the link though.

That should help you get XeXMenu installed.. and with Dashlaunch you can switch which app to load on startup, so you'll be able to set FSD to launch as default (as you are now) but with the ability to jump to XeXMenu for those troublesome apps.

Either burn xexmenu to disc or put it on your USB drive, and then boot it up through FSD (file manager>USB device>xex.xex)
