i cant get this bastard to work. i get stuck at 'initializing', or depending on what else i do i can get to the activation/you need to be online and signed in dialog and get stuck there. i have tried everything that comes up in google and nothing helped. most of it is people saying to run it as admin in different compatibility profiles. i have tried them all, tried a bit of mix and match with the updates (theta and rld) after reading a guy saying that using the most recent theta update on the rld ones worked for him, and so far i have only ever got one of the two results (init or activate). can some one list all the exact update files they used/steps they took to get it working and current?
im on win 7 x64, rld release and very current hardware if that makes any difference.

Earlier Theta updates were not working with the reloaded release, there were a number of extra and different files between the two
Just updated the rld version to 1.0.0.28, not played in a while, it works fine and that's with a rip version
Have you got all the files blocked in your firewall? I blocked Maxpayne3.exe, Playmaxpayne3.exe, and the two linked with RGSC renderer.exe and wow_helper.exe just incase
The auto update tells me it can't connect and I click play offline, it all works fine after that

If you're using the RELOADED release of the game, then:
Follow the nfo steps - the nfo that comes with that release.
Then, run the game to check if everything is working fine or not.
After that use - Max.Payne.3.Update.v1.0.0.28-RELOADED.
Note: The RELOADED latest update is NOT cumulative.

1.0.0.28 is cumulative, 1.0.0.29 is not. RELOADED didn't release 1.0.0.29 yet.

Max.Payne.3.Update.v1.0.0.28-RELOADED doesn't include the following Updates from before:
- MP3_Launcher_1_13_0_0.exe
1 MB
- Social Club v1.0.9.5 Setup.exe
16 MB

aren't those packed inside of MP3_Patch_Update_1_0_0_28.exe ? pretty sure i remember after updating social club update also pops up.

Seems like a lot of work to get this thing working when you can buy a key for $15 and be done with it hehe. I think it's quite fun. The multi is actually entertaining for a bit too, just no dedi's as usual. Wish Rockstar would wise up and put dedicated servers in GTA 5. Some of the most multiplayer fun ever was in GTA IV. Man that shit was a blast with buddies on vent. 4 guys driving 100+ MPH while hanging out the window doing drive by's with uzi's. Shit was too cool. That and the airport stunts were mad fun too.

Well, I installed the game for the first time a few days back and after installation, I right away used the v1.0.0.28-RELOADED and nope it didn't work. Was getting the error -
"Social Club UI Failed to Initialize".
Uninstalled and installed again and the same thing happened.
Only doing the above mentioned steps in the previous post made it work for me.

ok i got it working by taking a few of the pointers i got from you guys. not sure which exactly was the fix, but i got all theta updates (instead of mixing between rld and theta), and i actually ran the game before applying them instead of installing and running all the updates right away. thanks for the advice gentlemen.
next question: is that 'lan patch' legit?

To be fair a 460 should guarantee decent framerate too, as long as one doesn't exaggerate with the eye candy

Well it was few pages back that I bitched about it where I also mentioned I was getting 50-90fps (very high textures rest high). Frames wasn't the issue, but something magical besides more powaaaah happened
