while it can still be considered as selfishness, I still think this leak is useless because in the end, as usual like 99% of PS3 leaks, it will benefit Sony, not the end user.
4.20 is most likely the latest firmware a CEX2DEX owners will enjoy, better than nothing sure, but that's what we told when 3.55 was the last firmware we enjoyed on CEX and see where we are nowadays.
Workarounds like that aren't the way to go and this, like the PSN on 3.55 thingie (yeah I know, PSN still works, but won't anymore soon, but I'm not Sony and I can't tell you the date they will kick the new 4.20 auth server), will be blocked.
Sadly, I hate me saying that, but putting out EBOOTs like TB didn't harm the scene in any way in the end, because what did Sony do ? Nothing. SDAT 4, that's the only thing they did, but this was defeated easily (guess how ? with a DEX for sure). I'm all about public stuff but serving information on a plater for Sony isn't the way to go and I hope people realize that.
Then again with this logic, if fail overflow or geohot wouldn't have released their info, Sony wouldn't have blocked it and still nobody would have enjoyed it. Sure, but with this kind of info they shared, it's still doable to properly pwn the bootloader, and this is what people should focus on now on : screw Sony, not make Sony happy.

Chortle. Now all those profiteering from CEX/DEX conversions are desperately scrambling to downplay this release, claiming it won't bring anything new. That's BULLSHIT propagated by people afraid of losing their exclusive toys and money making schemes of selling DEX conversions.
The only two people I feel sorry for is my mate, who used his DEX to further scene/game hacking, and grudging respect to the two-faced coward squarepusher - who got conned into paying €400 for his DEX that turned out to be a conversion, he used his machine to help emulation development- But all the others? They can get fucked. Not a single "famed" dev has done anything to further this scene in over a year -- except release, and charge for, TB. Evilsperm is whining about how this is going to shut him out of his DEX use and how the person that leaked this info is a cunt. Oh boo fucking hoo, releasing the SP-INT connection info for Rebug (hurr pseudo-DEX firmware) singlehandedly caused the largest, most damaging, piracy boon in over a year... forcing Sony to lock off store access to all debug/developer kits.
*slow clap*
Now he has the balls to whine about someone else releasing something? Fucking DRAMA. I have no intention of using this, but I also have no intention of succumbing to pressure to bury the info or downplay its significance. Right now, in its current state, it won't do much for end users... but that will change, as long as people don't give in to inner-circle pressure.

Sad but true. This is pretty much all the scene has devolved to these days; bickering amongst the users, selfish hoarding and condescending by the "supposed" developers, and profiteering by the hackers. The ones decrying this release are the ones with DEX units and the only reason they're upset by this is because they know that Sony, being Sony, are going to go apeshit and end up locking down DEX use -- and quite possibly blocking DEX converted units. It's a shame for 2-3 specific people, but the rest - who did nothing for the last year - can go cry into their pillows 
Like cyclone, I actually thought it was fairplay of TB to take up the slack left behind by the "supposed" devs, but from all the hints Gary keeps dropping... I wouldn't be surprised if the TB/E3 teams *are* these devs and they're using their DEX units to pirate (how's SP-INT treating you, Math?) and using their hacking knowledge to make dongles that force people to keep paying. Now TB is all but dead, but wait!!! There's a new TB dongle coming out this month! How hilariously convenient. Meh. Too much drama, too little progress.. as always.

I may be understanding this completely wrong.
It appears to me that all the tb *cracked* games over the last year are going to become availible for everyone. Is that much accurate?

Setting a param.sfo to 3.60 when a game is encrypted with 3.55 keys is indeed artificial.

That's because for the last year or so, there's not been much of anything worth talking about. TrueBlue, that's about it. Or perhaps Duplex/EXEtrimAll's hacks for older 3.55 titles, a handful of faux-3.60 titles that were actually 3.55 just param locked. This DEX stuff is interesting, but the hoops required to actually make use of it.. coupled with the restrictions you're subjected to once you have it.. just make it not worth the hassle. Now we're going to be getting even more dongles from TB and E3... yeah, it's depressing.
