Played for about 2h on a buddy key and the animations/combat feedback is defienetely better in retail than in those beta weekends. Loving the game so far, will def buy it later on, got too many games on my platter now Smile I would love for it to hit F2P market sooner than later Smile

Make sure you update the client before using the buddy key because it only for 24 hours and its a big download. The retail disk needed to download almost 4 gigs of data before it was ready to play.

I tried the persistent thing in the beta. It felt like they tried to do the WvWvW maps from some other MMOs but didn't really execute it very well. There are several points that you can capture and hold, which give you bonuses in PvE, but the map is too small and the side with the most people just zergs a point and takes it. There are no keeps or walls or anything to give defenders an advantage and when you die you spawn a short distance away without incurring any penalty. Staying on the map also felt pretty pointless since you only get experience from the three repeatable quests you can get there and they have a 30 minute reset timer each time you complete them.

Some of the quests are bloody great - really odd things you need to do. There are some that require you to be dead to finish Very Happy

There were two BG maps in the PvP beta they did. One was a Team Deathmatch on a very small map with a central area you fight on to get points. The other was a clone of the new WoW BG where you collect several artifacts and need to protect them to get points. It's not the most inspired thing in the world.

Umm yea... before trying those, one might want to take a look at general feed-back here: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=4355471

Seems not everything is fine with this set.

If anyone got a spare buddykey laying around, I could take it off your hands. I don´t have any money to pay with, but other stuff, if you know what i´m saying.

How long is the main campaign / story? And is the plot/lore worth paying a monthly fee for a month or two? (I thought TOR was worth it just to play the IA story)

I played TOR for the story as well and I'm enjoying this as much as I did TOR. It looks like it's as long as a single playthrough in TOR, maybe longer. I'm just finishing up the second area and I have played for 37 hours (just solo questing and one group dungeon). As far as I can tell there are 10 large areas in total, so it's fairly long. There's isn't much replay opportunity as you go through the same areas with other factions, only the main quest changes, and main quest is a fairly small part of each map. (Side quests are the real meat of the game, and they're well done)
