I feel you Ankh, when my GF sliced a 10cm long, deep gash on her head (holy shit the head bleeds a lot) we had to sit for 6-7 hours as well. It took them 5 minutes to sow the wound and we were done with the formalities just soon after. And this was on a work day so I didn't sleep for that night and went to work immediately after.
This was USÖ, which is one of Sweden's largest hospitals as well. :/

Man that sucks, the last time that I went to ER (distorted ankle) had to stay there 10 hours because it was overcrowded with no medics available..:S
