The complete mod for Pripyat is supposed to be out before the end of the year, or even mid-december iirc.

well this is what yondaime says:

Quote:
Definitely the LURK mod. The Complete mod aims for a more natural modding process where they fix a lot of the issues and try to improve upon the normal gameplay aspects of STALKER while LURK aims not only to improve but also change the gameplay. The LURK mod not only looks a lot better (with 1.1) but also makes the game more challenging AND more rewarding. You can play stealth as enemies won't see you in darkness and when it's night it's absolutely pitch black. There are many more weapons (don't know about armors yet as I haven't gotten very far in 1.1) and weapons feel much more powerful now.

I've played LURK and Complete. I disagree that LURK looks better (except the new weapon models) but the gameplay changes are awesome especially if you've mastered the vanilla game. I recommend playing both mods.

Complete is amazing and OL has some brilliant ideas, but the last time I played it they had ramped up the bleeding damage so much so that without a bandage you WOULD die and FAST. That wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact that bandages cost THOUSANDS of Rubles.

Meanwhile in Russia Surprised

Quote:
A brave Russian mod team has challenged themselves to port the whole of GSC’s survival horror, STALKER, into Crysis’ more advanced engine. The project’s called Cryzone – Sector 23, and is far along enough for the team to have released a video of the mod in action. You’ll find the video embedded below.

The mod is the work of a team called World of Stalker. It’s still a work in progress, but famous elements from the STALKER series are already in there, including the bleak landscapes, anomalies, and groups of terse Russian men sitting around campfires.

The video shows off some of the destructability and improved physics that comes with the upgrade to Cryengine 2. The mod plans to add some new features to the game, including a Far Cry 2 style healing system, in which your character must fix wounds by injecting themselves, or removing bullets from wounds. For more information on the mod, check out the Sector 23 page on the AP forums. It’s a staggering undertaking, but judging from the video below, the results could be pretty spectacular.

Well, apart from the improved physics, the default STALKER+ Complete mod looks better. Nice effort though, maybe they'll manage to capture better that gloomy atmosphere that defines the Zone.

So I haven't played this in a long time, and I got an itch to do so. I downloaded it on steam, latest patch I assume, no mods. Computer in my sig, but I'm getting frequent freezing playing this. Not a lot , but every few minutes I'll be trucking along and suddenly bam, it'll freeze for 5 or 6 seconds, but the game world seems to carry on.
I don't recall ever having this problem on my old rig. are there any issues with Win 7 or something else going on here?

Just happened to me as I rounded a corner on a bandit, froze for 5 seconds, suddenly he was behind me and half my health was gone.

I've got the same set to max except I pulled vision distance back a notch and object detail is back 2 notches.
Full dynamic lighting

All three work fine in W7 x64

Sure it isn't a HDD problem? I'm guessing it's the only game it's happening on?

if it's vanilla unmodded I can't imagine what it would be

Never had any problems with other games.

Just played Deus Ex: HR through not that long ago. I also installed Pripyat, so I should see if it happens in that. It does seem vaguely like a loading problem but not all the time. It happens about 99% of the time I run by that blue bus parked on the road in Garbage between the two camps. It happens other places too, but it's pretty much a guaranteed thing every time I run near there.

Now I remember why I didn't finish my LURK playthrough! Surprised

The mod is unbalanced as shit. Laughing
Artefacts don't work, en enemies have pinpoint accuracy even with ridiculous weapons and most of the time can disregard said weapons brutal recoil (for the PC, at least), economy is fucked up (each critter you kill drops it's particular loot that you can sell for a bajilion dollars), there's no attempt in trying that vital characters to the main quest can survive a random bandit/critter attack, etc.

I guess I'll wait to see if 1.2 manages to improve some of these but... probably not.
Anyway, time to install Complete again or try this and hope that the loading times have improved massively... hmmmz

Dayem Sad . That Russian Stalker SOC "Peoples Soup" ( Laughing )MegaMod looks interesting, but sadly with these huge compilations there's always something that doesn't work as it should. I'm replaying CoP with the Misery mod and there are tons of aspects that are either too unbalanced or plain annoying..I guess struggling it's part of the fun Razz

I had the Narodnaya Soljanka base files and DL'ed the rest but that kept crashing left and right, so I'll try to DL the torrent now.

Apparently mini-patches will be available on that site on a relatively regular basis (last one was from June 14, I think) so I'm guessing that it's a much improved version of the mod.

Stalkersoup is simply amazing but I'm getting tired of the long loadings and (recently) consistent crashing so I'll be taking a break for a while. Sad
On the upside the mod is VERY active, so they'll figure it out and improve it eventually.

Now to install that CoP Misery mod...

im playing cop right now with a mod called 'way in pripyat'. its a whole new game with its own story, npcs, missions, equipment etc. so far i have been to the cordon, yantar, army warehouses and a glimpse of the hospital. it seems very well balanced. its quite hard, despite all the fancy new guns and armour (on master), and artifacts are extremely rare and valuable. i have only found a jellyfish (-2 rad), the minor stamina one, and the minor fire resist. i got a compass as a quest reward, but i cant equip it (+4 rad and i only have the jellyfish). i found a bit of a bug that throws the economy out of whack, but even having pimped out guns and armour isnt making it any easier...and i still cant afford the best armour even with the extra money (yet).

my only complaint is that some of the missions are a bit confusing, and one in particular (so far, hopefully this is the only one) is just poorly designed to the point of draining the fun out of completing it. its to be expected considering the guys making the mod likely dont have degrees in game design though. its also kind of part of the stalker 'atmosphere' to be confused by a combination of bad translation and quirky design Razz overall i would recommend it to anyone who has played through the games and still yearns for mooaarrrr....
