When I played beta, I had the best performance running either DX9 or by disabling all forms of AA, including FXAA, with DX11. Similar to my Age of Conan experience where it was DX9/DX10 with same situation...pretty clear that it is the same engine. I have a decent rig and only play at 1680x1050 so trust me, it's an engine issue with certain environments. I didn't experiment much to see if this could be overcome with some tinkering, just suggesting people use DX9 if performance is paramount.

same engine just tweaked more as they go for each game etc and the fixes handed down to last game.. its how they roll.. continuous improvements across the board..

regarding dx9 and 11 (10 for my card ) I dont get any difference in performance right now, but I am running with the dx11 selected for dx10 on my card..

Also the game was started 5 + years ago so im guessing they were working with quads and dual core cpu's etc at the time along with older cards.. another reason why things might go a bit wonky at times till tweaked.

I've never really liked a MMORPG but this one looks interesting for the story and quests. Is this game any good for someone who likes single player rpgs?

Is the animations still as bad as it was in the BETA (didn't play the last BETA period, only the one before that) ??
It was really the big gripe I had with it and I was fine with the animations etc in AOC.
I was really disappointed with that because I'm a bit of a Lovecraft fan and liked AOC Sad

It's definitely not a game for the masses, and that't one of the great things about it!

bought a key from cjs last week, played fine up to release date.... can log into my funcom account, but not the actual game... needless to say, they look like they are getting bombarded at the mo with support tickets

Are you sure you didn't buy a pre order key, as those are (were) valid from 29th June up to release ?

Anyone here liking this so far? Hows the pvp? Anything it has besides the standard modern mmo features?

I went ahead and bought it. I'm really liking it so far. I play single player games almost exclusively and I like the story so far, it has a lot more narrative in both the world and missions then other mmos i've tried.

This game truly has the best quest dialogue and dialogue in general - very very well written (Bioware, take note you lazy EA-money-slurping leeches) and often hilarious.

I think I'm going to remake my character and go with a ranged weapon - melee combat feels too much like a regular MMO so far and can get a bit repetitive. Besides, guns are more fun Wink

Edit: I really like roll playing but in TSW others keep talking and talking.
