Went in today to look for an update as I found out they're pretty frequent. Apparently, busy folks over at Gigabyte started putting out bios updates that finally get rid of the 'good' old Legacy ones.

It's a bit annoying to update from Legacy because you can't do it with @Bios or Qflash.

However, I figured it out and turns out the Bios made my system faster now, it cut nearly 10 secs off the boot. I barely even see the splash screen when I turn the computer, it just snaps so fast into loading windows.

Apparently, the Bios was released just few days and it's a stable release not a beta or something so I can really recommend it.

Cool

Screenshot is taken from an X79 board but it's pretty much the same.

Cool so the award-winning Z68 boards that had the 'touch-bios', but still lived in the good ol' blue-and-gray colors got all updated to UEFI. Ace. Didn't expect them to move the whole thing. Thats one of the things that put me off when i was looking for a new mobo.

Still, by looking at the screenshot i think ASUS is still untouchable when it comes to the user interface.

I don't think it should hold you back, it's suppose to be better.

TouchBIOS no longer works after upgrading but they might patch it.

This would be awesome news if it wasnt for the fact that I had paid someone to overclock and put warranty on my non-UEFI BIOS z68 gigabyte board Razz.

The boards come with 3 year warranty anyway do they not?

Made a short video with a warm boot:

I'm not sure how "competitive" that benchmark is but it feels pretty fast to me.

Gonna make one with a cold boot as well, I think it's actually faster than a warm boot.

Can't you backup the settings, update the bios and reapply them? I think it'll be better.

I have no idea if I can do that Razz! This is my issue I guess.

Can't seem to find the update anyway (GA-Z68XP-UD4), I must be going blind..

They didn't release it yet for that board, BUT you should Google it. I noticed that many times BIOS are released on support forums and such.

Yeah I didnt look too hard, but I did notice a screenshot for that board on a forum. The only thing holding me back is knowing if my presets are saved over the update, which I doubt they are.. I guess I could set it all back up, but right now it just works and I doubt I'll gain a huge amount of performance from the upgrade.

Well, as stated, it should shorten boot time.

I never turn the machine off lol. I'll wait and see what improvements it will make on release, right now the effort to reward ratio just seems rather high. We shall see. Still, thanks for the information and advice folks.

IMO I wouldn't upgrade unless you go into the bios a lot and can use the enhanced interface. The BIOS is one of those things that isn't worth updating unless you have a problem that the update fixes. Otherwise, if everything is work splended anyways, the update may introduce some new problem.
