I'm thinking about getting myself a new pc, but unfortunately I don't really now which parts should I choose since I'm not really into hardware stuff. The budget limit is 500€. Other things you should know is that a 500 gb hard drive will be more then enough for me and I prefer the intel & nvidia combo. Any help in making a true master race pc will be appreciated Smile

Any parts to reuse?

- Mobo: Asrock Z77 Pro 4 or similar, ~80-120 EUR or so depending on your wishes;
- CPU: Intel Core 3450, ~160 EUR
- RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600, ~40-45 EUR
- HDD: Lower end 500 GB drives are about 60 EUR atm
- GPU: GTX 560 Ti, 7850 or better yet, get a used 6950/570/6970 for that amount (about 160)

The above puts you around the 500 mark. Still lacks a PSU though, which is hard to recommend without knowing what you can get. I assumed you have a case to use; the above is more than capable of running anything out there at 1080p or lower just fine.

It kind of depends on what you already have to be reused though, a scratch build will always cost a bit more Smile

Thanks for the advices. Sadly, the only thing I can reuse is the case. I guess I could increase the budget up to 600€. I like the build you recommend, I'll dig around, check prices and stuff and I'll post an update whenever I'll be closer to actually buying anything Smile

Yeah the shit I posted is just me either picking something I remember reading positive things about (Asrock's Z77 boards are all very decent apparently) or from what I know is good (like the GPUs, although I left out the 6870 which may be available very cheap and is at roughly 560 Ti level) and then glancing at a Dutch price comparison site for half a second Razz
I could explain it more, but it's all basically at the bottom end of what's worth its money for gaming Smile

Prices might be different for you, but with 600 EUR + reusing a case you're basically set, the extra budget added should be enough for a good PSU Smile

Also, really don't shy away from getting a used GPU. Particularly if you get an EVGA card, warranty usually isn't an issue Smile

So I've been digging around a bit and this is how it looks so far:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 Ivy Bridge LGA1155 BOX
RAM: Corsair DDR3 4GB 1600MHz Vengeance CL9 x2
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA3
MOBO: Asrock Z77 PRO3 Intel Z77 LGA1155
GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX560Ti AMP 1GB DDR5/256bit
PSU: XFX Core 550W

So I guess I should be fine with a build like this? Very Happy

There are people here that know a lot more than me on which brand and models are best and I'm sure someone will answer you. I'm pretty sure I heard bad things about XFX PSU's a while ago. Smile

What I would get -

Realistically, if you get a higher quality supply you could go with the 400-500w supplies if staying single GPU. Seasonic makes a couple supplies in this range that are fanless.

Actually, the XFX Core Pro series are all Seasonic builds, so they're quite decent. It's a Seasonic S12 II inside. Decent but not top notch, but at that price point you won't find better. The cheapest Seasonic X-Series is twice as expensive, but they are much superior Smile

Yeah, I don't really want to overdo it budget wise, I tried to keep it as cheap as possible because my funds are quite limited. I also don't have huge demands performence wise. A game running in 1080p with high details (without AA) with a stable 60 fps is good enough for me.

I might be getting a new monitor later on, so maybe you could also recommend me a decent 22 incher that isn't all that expensive? Smile
