Yeah, its use in the dickwolves cartoon was valid, since it was satirical (and obviously so). But random abuse and controversy-generating developers? Fuck right off, the industry doesn't want you.

It's not as clear cut as it seems. What if someone was raped by say a cucumber - does it mean that we shouldn't use the word "cucumber" because it might make him/her re-live the rape? Where do we draw the line?

Common sense.
Rape is obviously a traumatic and horrible experience. The word itself has no other meaning than what is obvious.
Cucumber, to use your example, is just a vegetable. That it might be used in a bad situation isn't relevant, since it's generally used to mean vegetable, unless otherwise noted within the sentence. And even then, the word rape is the most important part of the sentence.
