Ok.. i just bought the retail version.. and its running like a dream on my old p4 2.4 512 ddr dual channel. 9700 pro . Everything medium except lighting. Now when i try using the Reloaded retail release its totally flakey. Shutter, shutter.. crash etc. But none with my boxed copy. Not saying its a bad crack, but this is what ive found.

Now i just bought a new system this weekend. And man it looks amazing.

P4 3.2 800FSB 1 MB cache, 1GB DDR2 duel channel interleaved , ATI X800 PCIE

I can run everything at MAX.. Including light. No shutters, no crashes.. quick loading times. (Well quicker than on my P4 2.4) and it seems to be playing flawlessly. (Other than some issues with the server browser and in game menus)

Why is everyone still trying to play online with the realeased version. It called try before you buy, you tried..now you should buy. And if you think the game is crap so you wont buy it. Then stop playing it. Just my 2 cents.
(Dont say..well i cant aford it.. becasue theres no free lunch..just movies..HAHA)

I still get that lag spike shit even when I upgraded to 1 GB of ram. They better release that fix for the patch soon. If I had a better card I could run it full. It's just the damn card that's keeping me back.

Hey I just upgraded the comp. I had 512 before. I wasn't spending almost $200 for 2 gb of ram. 1 gb is good enough now. Already spent almost $500. My friend has 1.5 gb of ram and doesn't get the lag spike shit.

It was quite obvious, you said you needed 2gb for bf2 and that can only mean 1 thing, you have too much pr0n on your system. Wink

I just got my retail and I have only one thing to complain about ...

the first time i load the game it takes good 2 minutes to load no matter what ...

my system is p3.4 with 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM and x800 pe

and the game (when loaded) works like a charm at all settings max ...
I wish there was a way that the loading time could be any faster than this ...

maybe is just have A.d.d. but I hate freaking waiting!

fuck ...

Just some random thoughts.

I think the long loading times are due to the time it takes for the game to make a hash verification of the files (anti-cheat thingy). Doing something like that takes a lot of cpu and pressures the hdd alot, lots of data to read.
So a system with 2GB of RAM and an old/fragmented disk/generally slow disk would load slower than a system with 1GB RAM and a WD Raptor (me wants)

In-game I've noticed the funny thing in the start that the troopers float along, not moving their legs. I blame PB, what else Smile

Sys spec: P4 2.8 - 2GB - 9800Pro -- all overheated, including me Very Happy

Btw, do what everyone else does, ignore me Razz

Skip Intro Movies :

To skip the intro movies when you load up Battlefield 2, delete the Dice, EA, Intro, and Legal Bink Video files from your EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies folder.

When player dies, you can pick up his kit by standing next to it and pressing "g" (by default)..

Ok you didn't get my joke so let's move along.

Ontopic.
I think this engine is great. I mean even my old 9800pro runs it wonderful at all medium and 4xaa, only lag is in the start but from there on it's a smooth ride, quite amazing Smile
I can most likley crank a few settings to high and still use 4xaa, but I honestly dont see much difference between medium/high so I choose the higher framerates.
I hate the game online though, everyone is so damn crazy about their points. A TK by misstake (meaning they did it to them selfs but blame you for it) and you are instantly an idiot, retard, moron etc, even on unranked servers :/
If I play online now, I choose to be a lone wolf so I wont have to deal with all the idiots.

I don't get lag much. That "lag spike" thing I mentioned wasn't actual lag. It happens in single player too. It just feels like a lag spike.

BF2 made me crazy.
I love this game, but instead of playing it, I found myself tweaking, changing and playing with settings all day...
Today, I just lowered everything to MED and that's it for me. Maybe my rig isn't what I thought it is, maybe it's just the game - I don't care anymore...
Thanks for listening to my bitching.
K out. for good.
Time to play now a little.

Not as far as i know, but if you have a clone cd ver. you can use demon tools to mount it and it will work with the patch.
