There is a "Hunger" variable built into the game. As long as don't use the AH, the games "hunger" is increased. This hunger influences the droprate anti-proportionately.

Not sure if actually telling the truth
I would not doubt this in the slightest actually.
I swear, maybe I am remembering wrong... but in Diablo II I never seem to recall hitting these "walls" equipment wise like i do with this game. Its beyond frustrating. But, I could just have jaded memory admittedly.
I wish Torchlight II would release already.
1 stripe purple belt in JiuJitsu (good grief this takes FOREVER hahah)
Diablo2 was different. If you had shit gear and you were a class that really needed gear (barb, amazon), you could get carried by a class that didnt necessarily need gear to steamroll hell (sorc/necro/hammerdin). Trust me if you had shit gear and were a barb or amazon, hell difficulty sucked. This is why everyone had an MF sorc... farm whatever you need for your other chars.
New Patch tomorrow, big surprise no drop fixes. Bunch of stupid fucks planning their tactic to "buff" the drops but behind the scenes really nerf them.
Edit: Lol just read a reply from bashiok (big faggot)
"Patches have a longer development and testing process than I believe many expect them to. For instance, 1.0.3a was already in development before 1.0.3 was released, and some 'room' on it (which really means time for development, implementation, testing and localization) was left for any extreme bug fixes should they crop up very shortly after 1.0.3's release. It's more efficient to not wait for a patch to launch before starting work on the next one. Changing item drop rates was something that took some time to discuss and decide how we were going to address it, and thus it wasn't something we could make in time for tomorrow's patch."
Must have took a lot of time to talk about how you can make it appear to have better drops but in reality push people towards the RMAH.

They clarified that is not the case. But even then everyone can see that the Auction house played a major part in designing the itemization and loot system.
That is definitely true. Inferno difficulty was designed around the fact that you can sell the stuff you don't need and buy good items other people don't need on the AH.
I just wish they'd use part of the money they're making on the RMAH to design some new content.
I bot too, it was the biggest joy of D2, and it still is in D3. Also I don't have the time anymore to grind content all afternoon after school, and this is basically the same thing. And when I get home in the evening, I transfer over the gold to my main and buy stuff on the AH and do some late-game Inferno grinding (bots are not intelligent enough for kiting or other boss strategies yet).
Hope they will. But so far Warden hasn't really been doing much for as far as I heard
Hopefully they just ban a ton of people at once without warning like they used to do, and even people who just tried a bot for a day a month ago lose their shit
I really don't agree with the drops in this game and how blizzard does things, but botting?.. Just no.
I don't believe they come back, certainly not until Blizzard improve their "end game". These people have basically finished the game, there's really no point in playing any further in inferno when loot sucks and when you get one mediocre item worth keeping once every few hours.
It was fun while it lasted, I really enjoyed the ride until inferno. I didn't even encounter many server problems other people have. But there's nothing to keep me playing any further in inferno. The gameplay is always same, it takes way too long to kill stuff (at least on my sword and board barbie) and most importantly the rewards are not worth it. Even if they upped the drop chance of decent items I don't think it would help much in the long run, because the items in current state of the game are bland. There aren't any unique affixes or anything, so you only look at few boring stat points on each item.
I believe I read they were going to reduce the 'wear-and-tear' durability decrease rate. So you won't have to pay as much if you are not actually getting killed.
No price lowering, ever. Just if you don't get killed, the armor won't get so damaged over time. Anyway, finished the game on Inferno a couple of weeks back with my DH (before the nerf) and since then I've raised a Monk. Been able to farm acts 1 and 2 with the Monk, but 3-4 are a no go atm solo. I can get thorugh acts 3-4 with a barbarian, so it buffs my all res to 1400+. I don't think I'm going to play anymore, because the loot sucks ( 312 MF ) and the content is repetitive as hell. So, so long Diablo 3.
LE: They buffed Ghom and you really can't kill him as a melee class. Not sure if you can kill him as ranged if you don't have insane dps. He farts like he's enraged since the beginning of the fight. Or maybe you can if you have 2000 all res, 2500 LoH, 3 attack speed etc.
My friends are mostly starting to drop off the map as well. Everyone but myself and one other guy that knows pretty much nothing about any RPG type games where loot and abilities are concerned had 60 barbarians. All the glass cannon WD/DH/Wiz are just about gone. The only group I consistently play with is my barb, another barb and a monk. We just farm act 1 though to be honest. I'm sitting at over 9k armor buffed, about 43k HP, 20.6k damage unbuffed, 500+ resist all unbuffed, 29.5% crit chance and 176% crit damage. I can do act 1 and 2 pretty easily, but act 3 is quite hard. I'm at the point now where upgrades are just getting insane. I might be able to find a decent ring as an upgrade, but other than that, most items are way up in the millions if i want to advance..
The only big thing is what for? They need some kind of end game or this game is dead. I like the visceral feel of the gameplay and the barb is kinda fun cause I can just slay shit soo fast and stand in a pool of molten, desecrate, arcane enchanted in act 1 and still live if I get some revenge procs. But I'm about geared up and it's gonna cost millions if I want to gear out my DH. With the crap loot I get 99% of the time, it's starting to get old fast. Be glad with TL2 comes out. I think it's going to be really good.
As most people do, i feel there is no late-game content. Some sort of events are needed. I got 3 chars on lvl 60 and two on 40. And that´s the only thing that keeps me playing until I get all my five chars geared up. In fact, i spend more time in the ah than actually playing.
Reading all these stories about farming, looking at all the vids about farming and hearing my friends talk about farming sure makes this game seem like a lot of fun. I don't understand why people do it :/

My problem is that I can get my resists up over 650, but I lose a ton of damage doing so. Trying to find crit chance and crit damage gear with resist all is expensive as hell. That's why I'm just farming act 1. Got a couple of decent items lately, nothing 10 mil+ yet though. I've turned over some good monies playing the AH though and most of the gear I bought for 100K - 400k but they are worth like 2 mil each some of them. The glove I have, are str, vit, and like 8% crit chance, 39% crit damage. My shield has 63 resist all along with str/vit and also has 7.5% crit chance. My neck has str/vit/ and like 40% crit damage as well as 200 LoH. So if I swap out all of this stuff for + resist all, I could hit that 650-700+ mark unbuffed. The thing is, I like having almost 21k damage unbuffed and really don't want to run with 10k. So for now, I just farm act 1 and hope to get something valuable. As it is right now, there really is no point doing anything else because I have a nice pattern down...
Check old ruins and see if cellar is up, then go to northern highlands and look for watchtower. Next go to The Festering woods and kill the elite that's usually up, go in the 2 instances and kill those elites, see if event is up and kill that one. Next move to leorics and go back in to the manor, see if elite is there, go outside and kill elite or 2. After that, either hit the Cemetary of the Forsaken or kill the goblin/elite in cellar if it is up and you have 5 stacks. Do all the cemetary instances and outside elite if it's there. Finally, go to Halls of Agony and work down to butcher and kill him. This whole run can be done in under 30 mins and net you 20+ yellows with zero deaths ever. I can't see anything that nearly as efficient as that.
