WW2 would be extremely difficult to pull off considering the mobility and scope of the WW2 battlefield. WWI on the other hand is another matter. But who knows what they're doing. They might be working on a completely new system and gameplay mechanics for all we know. Rome II sounds absolutely grand as far as I'm concerned.

People asking for modern-day military theme for a Total War game are completely missing the point of the franchise. These games are about ordering a big blob of dudes to slaughter that other big blob of dudes. The squad based approach of today's military hardly fits the bill. The Napoleonic era warfare with line infantry was pretty much the last time in history that fits the formula, and even that is stretching it somewhat. Maybe, just maybe, they could do something interesting with WW1 trench warfare, but that would be a complete departure from the series. They should stick to things they know how to do well, and leave the rest to those who are competent in their field (in case of WW2, leave it to Relic).
There are still unexplored areas in this. Ancient China (Sun Tzu bitches), Egypt, etc.
But I root for Rome 2 too. If they keep what made the original great and give it the Shogun 2 makeover, it would be kickass. I want to see my red legionaries marching in the sands of Egypt, teaching Cleopatra a lesson she won't soon forget.

Ahhh... I could totally go for a Warring States period China. That would be awesome. Though, perhaps a little too close to the Shogun series in terms of armies and armaments?

I think we'll get Rome 2, it seem to be in line for a "remake" after Medieval 2 and Shogun 2. I won't mind though, loved that game!

I'm not familiar with that era of China, just threw it out there for a possibility. They could play around with gunpowder weapons a bit (rockets and whatnot), throw in a mongol invasion every now and then, etc.

A total war game based on WW2 or an other "modern" war would be amazing. But i doubt it. Would mean that they overwork the complete total war gameplay system for the real time battles...

Shogun period and Chinese Period of Warring States are completely different events. They are separated by almost two thousand years. The later is quite an interesting period. Constant war, transition from bronze to iron, chariots getting replaced by horsemen, unique and specialized weaponry. Everything you need for an interesting TW game. Sadly it really isn't interesting enough for a western audience, so I see little chance of seeing TW focused on that period. On other hand it would fit into Helenistic/Roman Republic period of TW, but since both cultures had no contact, it could only be a hypothetical scenario.

Damn, I forgot about the American Civil Ware. I'd just give them my wallet for a really good Civil War RTS.

The last number of PCPowerPlay Magazine had on the final cover company of heroes 1 and in this number, COH2 was revealed and detailed.
In this issue it has on the last cover, rome total war, so i guess rome 2 total war is coming

That would be awesome. I just hope they fix the horrible siege mechanics this time -- although there's little chance, seeing how it was (and still) broken even in Empire.

There's always the DarthMOD series for fixing any AI issues -- unless you are referring to something specific not addressed by the mod.

Is it Rome2, is it Rome 2, is it Rome 2?!
Oh, wow, Crative ASSembly! Recycling much?!
What's next? Medieval 3, Shogun 3, Empire 2 and Napoleon 2?!
They could use the 30 years war or the 100 years war (you know, the one that lasted 147 years and gave us the legend of Joan of Arc).
They could give us the american revolutionary war or the american civil war (which was about the last war in the Clausewitz way of thinking), but, nooooo.... We get recycled stuff....

Rome 2 on the new engine? FUCK YES!
Now without those pesky limitations I could field multiple legions!

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Community feedback is nice and dandy, but sometimes, really, you need to take a leap of faith and come with something new.
