I never could get into GalCiv, and other games have been even worse. MoO2 still reigns supreme after all these years, hopefully these guys will manage to pull off something even close to it.

GalCiv2 was way better than the original and closer to the king (MOO2). But since that one, nothing decent came out (Sword of the Stars was atrocious).

Been playing it for a while, seems good so far but I still think they're releasing it quite early but we'll see, so far what's been added or updated has worked OK, haven't tried the latest update from a couple of days ago yet though but it's probably improving the game even more. Smile

EDIT: Still it probably won't be as botched as Sword of the Stars 2 was upon release but if there's any issues I hope they have the same support.
(SoTS2 is shaping up pretty well so far, still patched regularly and still a bunch of known issues but it's fully playable now, most of the time at least.)

I think i need a new pair of glasses, because definitely i've missed in my search that thread.

I kinda of skipped Sword of the Stars 2 after seeing the original. Might try it again this summer, if they've solved the issued that turned me away from that game.

Yeah I meant the whole series - GC2 seems great when you look at all the stuff it offers, but the gameplay itself just felt too clinical and not fun. Plus the tiered techs made research (one of my favorite things usually) boring as hell.

Looks like I missed out on Endless Space, gotta try it sometime - on a Civ 4 marathon once again now so it'll have to wait. The Caveman 2 Cosmos mod is getting closer to having multi-maps available; meaning that when you win the space race or other victory conditions in the 'normal' game, you can continue with your civ into a galactic phase with completely new units, map and techs (and alien civs to oppose you, of course).

The mod already starts at 12,000 B.C. if you include the prehistoric phase - after they're done with the galactic and other future eras they are planning, it'll truly be a game of EPIC proportions. Very Happy
