download emperor and rhapsody for a comparison of black to power metal and I think the differences will be obvious. |
Power Metal (MELODIC) - Royal Hunt, Stratovarious, Altaria etc..........
Black Metal - Cryptopsy etc...
Rhapsody is Heavy Metal, not Power
Yngwie is pure Metal... |
hmmm, always thought Rhapsody was power metal. Ive never been good with labeling music though. Thanks for clearing it up.

Wouldn't say u are wrong. This band has like 5 genres...
Quote: | This is definitely in the speed metal genre, but it cannot remain strictly in that category, because the band incorporates so many different styles into their music, its almost to keep track of which ones ..... |
Speed Metal
Rockdetector says it's :
Quote: | Symphonic Metal
Heavy Metal |
Of course Rockdetector can make mistakes (Ex. From The Inside. They said it's Metal, but lol, It's maximum ROCK)
DaMusic labels "Magic Wizard's Dream" as:
Quote: | Artiest: Rhapsody
Titel: The Magic Of The Wizard's Dream (CD)
Genre: Power Metal
Recordlabel: SPV
|
Power Metal
So basicly it's pretty hard to give them 1 general genre. I would say it's somewhere between Speed and Heavy Metal...
Luca Turilli's Solo albums were defenetly Power Metal tho...

Christopher Lee - vocals
Fabio Lione - vocals
Luca Turilli - guitars
Alex Staropoli - keyboards
Patrice Guers - bass
Alex Holzwarth - drums
Manuel Staropoli - flute

LoL Christopher Movies are getting boring ?
About Hitman: Movie (2007)
Vin Diesel is a hardcore gamer, and absolutely loves the Hitman series. For that reason I have faith that he wont destroy the movie.
Response: Well, Uwe Boll probably loved the Alone in the Dark games.

i dont know about a favorite album of mine, but my genre death/black/prog metal. and these are the few i listen to most.
PanzerChrist: "Roomservice" (sorry for small album art)
Tracks:
1. Tomorrow
2. Creature
3. Lies
4. Suicide
5. At the grave
6. Death approaches
7. Metal Church
8. Room Service
9. The red river
10. Evil
note... Drummer Reno Kiilerich (now with Dimmu Borgir) won the NAMM Fastest Feet competion with something like 800bpm (beats per minute) on the double bass, thats 13 hits a second. (amazing to me)
Kataklysm: "Shadows & Dust"
Tracks:
1. Shadows & Dust
2. Beyond Salvation
3. Illuminati
4. Chronicles Of The Damned
5. Bound Tn Chains
6. Centuries (Beneath The Dark Waters)
7. Where The Enemy Sleeps
8. Face The Face Of War
9. Years Of Enlightment - Decades In Darkness
note... very solid riffs, i like this album alot and my guitar style is based alot around it, the drums are fantastic. one of the only albums that i actually listen and like all the songs on it.
Meshuggah: every album... im not gonna post tracks/art, just too much... but definetly one of the most influential bands in metal. There tone/tempo/sound/style is off the wall, off beat licks and fast riffs. guitarist use 7string-8string combo.
Goatwhore: "The Eclipse Of Ages Into Black"
Tracks:
1. Nocturnal Holocaust
2. Lair of Nastrond
3. Desolate Path to Apocalyptic Ruin
4. The Beauty in Suffering
5. As the Reflection Slowly Fades
6. All the Sins
7. Satan’s Millennium
8. Upon this Deathbed of Cold Fire
9. Gravedom
10. Invert the Virgin
11. Perversions of the Ancient Goat
12. Into a Darker Sun
13. Under a Dark God
14. Commanding the Legions of Hell
15. Graveyards and Dead Angels
note... Singer from soilent green and ex-acid bath guitarist Sammy Duet. album is not typical for black metal, very lyrical and not all that kill kill kill redundant shit, fast and loud yet coherent.
Nile: "Amongst The Catacombs Of Nepren-Ka"
Tracks:
1. Smashing The Antiu
2. Barra Edinazzu
3. Kudurru Maqlu
4. Serpent Headed Mask
5. Ramses Bringer Of War
6. Stones Of Sorrow
7. Die Rache Krieg Lied Der Assyriche
8. The Howling Of the Jinn
9. Pestilence And Iniquity
10. Opening Of The Mouth
11. Beneath Eternal Oceans Of Sand
note... to me the best Nile album, nile is egyptian death metal. lyrics are about life and times in the egyptian age, guitars are fucking awesome some of the best classical intro's and best full on punishing riffs, drummer is one to be reconded with.
other mentions:
Cannibal Corpse: "all albums"
Dimmu Borgir: "puritanical_euphoric_misanthropia"
Agents Of Oblivion: "self titled" singer of acid bath
Cephalic Carnage: "Luicd Interval"
Cradle Of Filth: "all"
Exhumed: "all"
Lamb Of God: "all"
Pantera: "all"
Sepultura: "Roots"
Skinless: "all"
Slayer: "all"
Suffocation: "Effigy Of The Forgotten"
thats about it. this post might be a bore to the non-death/black/prog metal fans but whatever, if you do like and havent heard i would check them out .

short review from amazon
Quote: | Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com essential recording
Dark Side of the Moon, originally released in 1973, is one of those albums that is discovered anew by each generation of rock listeners. This complex, often psychedelic music works very well because Pink Floyd doesn't rush anything; the songs are mainly slow to mid-tempo, with attention paid throughout to musical texture and mood. The sound effects on songs like "On the Run," "Time" and especially "Money" (with sampled sounds of clinking coins and cash registers turned into rhythmic accompaniment) are impressive, especially when we remember that 1973 was before the advent of digital recording techniques. This is probably Pink Floyd's best-known work, and it's an excellent place to start if you're new to the band. --Genevieve Williams |

pink floyd did some awesome stuff- On dark side of the moon i especially like "us and them" /reminds me alot of the time when i was beginning my studies at the university and thought that it would be possible to change everything in the world. There was some kind of magic in the air...
btw, last year i spent some time in venice on holiday and experienced that pink floyd gave a concert there a while ago and many of the historical buildings at Piazza San Marco/Palazzo Doggia suffered severe structural damage due to the loudness and intensity of the bass and urin pissings by fans - LOL - Since then, the citie's mayor refused to approve any more concerts taking place there... yeah, that must have truly been a great show
Nun, so soll es denn sein!
Reiche mir Schwert und Wein,
reiche mir Panzer und Gebein!
Zerschmettern will ich mit Hass!
Ich, das schwarze Nass!!!

I'd say the best album I can think of would be Core by Stone Temple Pilots
Every song on that cd I like
and the first Slipknot cd, every song is sick
