http://cdn.armafiles.info/latest/DayZ_Changelog.txt
| Quote: | Affected addons:
* dayz_code 1.7.1.2
* dayz_weapons 1.3
* dayz_equip 1.3.1
* dayz_server (server admins only)
Developer's Note:
* YES: I know this hotfix has content in it. It was content that didn't make it into the last update, and some of the fixes are bundled with this content, so it was easier to release the content than try to remove it.
* Requires ArmA2 Beta.
* NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT: MELEE WEAPONS ARE QUITE UNDER POWERED CURRENTLY. THEY WILL BE ADJUSTED UPWARDS OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. EACH HAVE DIFFERENT DAMAGE VALUES.
* ALSO NOTE: Melee is just in testing. They may not stay, they are just being tested to see how they perform. They are missing their sound effects, and tweaking of effects also.
Changelog:
* [NEW] Tone Mapping to enhance nightlighting conditions
* [FIXED] Generic Loot not spawning (such as food etc...)
* [FIXED] Animals stand still and HURR DURRR (they now walk around)
* [FIXED] New blood values not being saved when a player eats (they do now)
* [FIXED] Duplicate players not being removed (should now be removed on login)
* [NEW] Melee Weapon introduced: Hatchet (can only drop through right click in gear menu)
* [NEW] Maximum animals increased
* [NEW] Melee Weapon introduced: Crowbar (can only drop through right click in gear menu)
* [NEW] Double Barrelled shotgun sound
* [FIXED] Gender assignment broken (working correctly) |
It was released, 1.7.1.3 hotfix is still to come.

Aeon, its Arma2 engine at the end of the day, so you can get an idea for the clunkyness of it all. No amount of patching and stuff can surpass the engine capabilities.. Saying that once you get past that and start creeping around, you forget all about it because it starts to get really scary at times.
Great fun
Will be on later.

Hmm... Combined Ops has been one of the top selling games on Steam for a few days now. I am guessing this mod is the reason? No wonder they are getting official support now. Seems like a good argument against that "Mods are bad for business/don't pay off" stance many publishers seem to adopt.

You need those Beta patches for ArmA2 and those are only about 100 MB too.

@Aeon
When you're finished with downloading ArmA2+AO:
1. Start ArmAII and quit. (Very important!)
2. Start Operation Arrowhead and quit. (Very important!)
3. Install mods and beta patch
4. Have fun.

Is the mod really that good, evilmonkeys review didn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence...

wasnt really a review as such more of a first impressions, the "game" is truly something different from what youve played before.
its as close to a realistic sandbox zombie apocalypse, we will/have ever see/seen
its.....different, in a good way, get past the steep learning curve and learn your terrain and foes and you start to feel like a real rugged survivor, its kinda astounding in that respect.
I'm currently sitting in a deerstand in the north east, doing nothing, staring out at a grey day while the rain is pouring down, scanning the horizon, watching a few zombies shamble around a nearby barn, and I'm doing nothing, but I'm completely engrossed and entertained.
its hard to explain.

Yeah, it pretty much is. Sadly, you really have to experience it yourself with the right mindset to understand.

It is.
But , keep in mind that it's still in alpha, hence the bugs, connection problems, and rough feeling overall. Though the mod is so entertaining that after some minutes familiarizing yourself with the controls you've already forgotten about all those aspects
Also it gets updated/fixed/improved daily, which is a big plus
