I'm guessing that most of the people who are still playing Diablo 3 are doing it only due to the fact that you can earn real money [ergo they don't really care about the level design].

I find that hard to believe. I certainly don't and none of my friends think that way. Though, obviously, that is not representative in any way.

Nope, tried to sell few items. They didn't sell (obviously there weren't too good) but I'm still playing and enjoying the game a lot. Currently leveling my monk and wizard to 60 and waiting for 1.0.3 patch to tune later inferno acts because I stand no chance unless I obtain better items from AH.

I finished it (yeah yeah I know I have to play it ten times with all characters on every diffculty to see how totally awesome it is, but I don't have time nor desire), it was okay. I found Act3 very boring, the setting was a snorefest. Act4 made up for it though. Combat got a bit challenging on the last Act, but that doesn't change the fact the the ease of it before made it a bit boring. Story is very average and the dialogues are an accumulation of cliches, this game takes itself waaaay too seriously. It goes full retard at the last act with all the dick stroking ('oh you're so awesme", "you da best!"). the ingame cutscenes were lolworthy, especially when compared to the FMVs.
If you're planning on buying this game for SP, don't bother. I don't know how it is in coop, but I assume that's where it's at. I also had no fun looting, I don't know why.

7/10

I remember when they said the levels in D3 would all be dynamic and change each and everytimes. As it is right now only a very few places + elites and champs packs are dynamic (even then they seems to spawn at the same spot a lot). The rest is completely linear and straight forward. D2 levels were better than this.

Blizzard got extremely lazy at some point in the last decade or so.

D3 seems more static to me as well. In fact, I can't even seem to find even a single variation in the open lands of D3.

Wrong. But being fueled by a hater i'm not surprised.

The interiors are completely randomized and so are the exteriors to some degree.

First of all each of the areas has different caves/entrances that can spawn leading to different dungeons.

Example:

Bridge of korsikk act3 - do a few runs and go back down the bridge.

You can find 4 different locations in the middle of the map.

A fort with barricades around it, a broken fort with a bridge leading to it, more barricades and just an empty passage, another fort.

All of those that have entrances leading to different interiors with other layouts/champions.

There's also alot of different events which you can find at a time. Starting another game meaning you might not get them again and something else might be in their place.

So it's very randomized. Just because you decide not to see it it doesn't mean it's not there.

It's true however that the exterior map as in the delimitations, the edges whatever you wanna call em are always the same. That's it.

.. and before anyone blows a gasket raging over that article, let's all remember that Max Schaefer CREATED DIABLO AND DIABLO 2. If he says D3 was being conceived as an MMO while he was working for Blizzard, the company he FOUNDED, then god damn it that's the truth Razz

Yes but read further:
Quote:
Schafer states that prior to his departure, the team was essentially aiming at doing for the Diablo franchise what World of Warcraft did to the Warcraft franchise.

So who says that the version (top view) we are seeing now, is the one he's talking about.
Could very well be that they had a 3rd person (like WoW) perspective for this.

So what could be is that they threw that whole concept out and went back top view?

(i'm not saying this is what happend, but this COULD very well be)
