i installed the beta update and i can run the game but only through the beta exe in the game folder. now i cannot run the game through sixupdater and 2/3rds of the game servers ingame do not ping. on the other hand the ones that do ping run really fine and it takes me no more than 30 sec to connect to one of them.
Funny, imho Elektro is alot worse though. Mostly because of all those huge mountains and hills surrounding it. Cherno has lots of alleys and walls which make evading alot easier.
Cherno is propably more hated just because you often manage to find alot of gear peacefully and undisturbed until you're trying to leave it and get shot. All the good stuff gone, rage imminent and Cherno sucks balls from then on

using latest beta for arma and 1.7 dayz?
been using clothing all week and no bugs. try that if you are already not.
it doesn't always happen, but there is a chance. you just had more luck then me. It only hapens on the first login after equping clothing. its a known bug. there's a 12 page thread about it in the official forums. they used to reset poeple back to land with gwear intact, until they got way too many requests... too bad i didn't read that before it happened to me

Can somebody show me an actual video where this game actually seems impressive on what it CAN do once the bugs are released?
So far all i've seen is an arma 2 gfx engine with a bunch of guys running around and shooting zombies in the head with a pistol.
Dont get the fuss over something like that. How are the servers? Do i create a server and people have to join or are there big servers with lots of people all connected at the same time?

You have to apply and be chosen to host a server, generally there are between 30 and 50 players on a server.
I agree the game doesn't initially seem very interesting, the animations and overall graphics leave something to be desired, but once you get in, it really hooks you and refuses to let go.
I can say it's truly unlike any other game I've experienced before. PVP is the most intense I've ever played, literally one bullet from the right weapon can and will kill you.
I've had half hour standoffs in different towns on multiple occasions, usually ending in me dying in spectacular fashion ;]
The dev's definitely have big plans for the game and the newest patch aims to fix quite a few outstanding issues, I would say now is a good time to start playing.
Have you played stalker? did you get that rush walking around? finding cool stuff? killing monsters that ambushed you? now imagine a better atmosphere, good exploration and loot hunting, and add players who may be or not be friendly. Sry but this game just makes u love and cherish what you have, what you have found and makes u regret any mistakes you do in shootouts against other players or the mistakes you make while scavenging.

Yes! This is one of the most exciting aspects of the game. You seriously don't know whether or not to trust the guy you've been running around with for the past hour. He might just end up betraying you and stealing your cool new shotgun ;D

Shame it costs 25 euro from steam for Arma2 and OA or i'd consider it more
its so worth it. its amazing how addictive the game is. you spend roughly 80% of time just walking, and yet I can't stop playing. this is a true pc game. steep learning curve, unforgiving, has PvP and PvE. large sandbox area, looting, exploring.
this is a begining of a future genre, no doubt about it.

Not sure how to go about getting this client wise if I only need to buy OA.
