I've been wanting to put together a new build for a few weeks now, I can get a pretty sweet deal for a 3770K @ $289.99 but they always seem to be out of stock or a 2700K for $279.99 .

Iis there any real significant difference between the 3770K and 2700K.

I don't plan on overclocking it at all, just want to run it on stock speeds and cooling.

Should I keep trying for the 3770K or just get the 2700K and be done with it, it's only a $10 difference between the two.

Why take the K series at all if you dont OC ?

Get the xeon instead, its basicly i7 ( has hyperthreading and the 8mb cache compared to i5 )

since you dont overclock Xeon is perfect for you, the dont have an unlocked multiplier, but are higher binned CPUs to last you longer ( how much its noticable i dont know )

Also this is ivy bridge version so only 69w TDP, the whole sandy bridge versus ivy bridge discussion is all about OC performance, since you run it stock the lower TDP of the ivy bridge is the only thing that should matter to you.

these run perfectly in the same LGA 1155 mobos that you run those i5s and i7s in so no additional cost there.
