There is a Nuclear powerplant about 40km from here in Belgium, now our province want's Belgium to take better safety measurements.
The thing has a goddamn broken turbine and yet they keep it running at half capacity..
How fucking utterly stupid are people that they learn NOTHING from previous disasters?!
Messing around with nuclear energy is dangerous as it is, so how stupid are you if you continue to operate if something is broken?!

Blame an entire country. Netherlands fcuk ayeh!
If some people are dumb, it doesn't mean ALL OF THEM ARE DUMB. Don't judge a book by it's covers. Maybe the guys in charge of the facility aren't even belgians.

Turbines are normally the non nuclear side? usually gas driven etc. If the turbine stops the plant just stops producing output.. Don't mean the plant will blow up

Doesn't matter, if something is wrong with the plant, shut it the fuck down. Simple.
Why is it with humanity, that something has to go HORRIBLE wrong for 10 times before they learn?!

I have quit smoking cigarettes on daily basis, only when i smoke weed.
The weed i smoke for medicinal purposes (i don't wish to go into detail about this, as this is highly personal.)
Oh and FYI (because most prolly don't bother to read the article): Quote: | According to Limburg Tihange 1 reactor is particularly unsafe. As earthquakes and floods are a serious risk for the plant. |
So it's not just the turbine..

yeah yeah, you are really exagerating this. It's working on half power because they are not using the defect turbine... Really dangerous
This hasn't been in the Belgian news. I am from Belgium and this is the first thing i hear about it. If it really were unsafe, the green boys would have been all over the television news.
You know what's dangerous? Life, 100% certain it will kill you in the end...
Either you go live in a forest or you have luxury and wealth and accept some degree of nature raping and 'danger'. Hypocrites everywhere nowadays.
Yeah, earthquakes and floods, real danger in Tihange. All those earthquakes, all the fucking time, in Belgium and the netherlands I checked it for you. Biggest one ever was 5.3 on Richter scale and was in 1950s somewhere. I am pretty sure they can take a 5.3 quake... And floods, well, if there are serious floods in belgium, they are 50cm, 1 m. I am pretty sure that Tihange can take it.
Now relax and enjoy life. Nothing will happen

Then why is our province complaining about it? Wouldn't be if there was no reason at all to worry...

Do you know how many security checks a modern powerplant has?

do you know how regular nuclear power plants have emergencies and leaks?
Do you know the instability and the dynamics of the nuclear reaction?
DO YOU know how many proper disasters we ve had?
also, as a bonus question, DID YOU ALSO KNOW that there was just recently a scientific article about how the risks of nuclear power plants should be severely re-assessed because of theoretical risk probability not matching the acutal fail rates?

as a fun fact of fission. There is a nuclear power plant in the uk, in which photographing is forbidden in certain areas because the electronic chips deployed there are too susceptible to light and will outright fail when photographed with a photoflash? And now imagine how much of a flash an electric short curcuit is able to produce at times. ...

There have been three major disasters afaik. Emergencies are a side-effect of technology, name one tech which does not have bugs/mishaps. The security of power plants have been improved, especially due to terroristic attacks (everything has a plus side I guess).
Pray tell, which disasters are you referring to?

Without going too personal - was the weed cos of a self diagnose or its actually prescribed by a doctor? (no, no need to tell about your problems..just curious about this question thats all ) |
The doctor already agrees with it, but he doesn't want to make the decision for medicinal weed on his own. All i have to do is find a psychiatrist that hasn't got a pre-judgement about weed as medicine.

I'm sure my fellow citizens will cut their electricity needs by 50% so they could shut this power plant down and make you feel safe. I'm dressing to get some of this sweet door-to-door awareness action as we speak.

Maybe it's time for Belgium to start investing into proper ways to gain energy..
Your country is for 80!!!% of it's energy depended on it's own nuclear energy...

Fair enough - so its abit of a self diagnose....right? From the start I mean.. |
Well yes, i noticed that it worked just aswell as the medicines i was getting, only without the nasty side effects.

Well brah we got no oil and no gas, so we use our old congolese connection for cheap uranium, makes economical sense, you got to admit...

Instead of comming into the topic and saying what you wanted to say, check 2 posts above your's.
There is a good example.
Plus Wind energy, the Belgium coast is big enough to supply a decent amount of wind energy (ofc not all of it, but atleast a 20% or so.)
