Do you know if there is a different ending if you chose the other option mid-game that you mentioned earlier?

I've only played the game through once yet, so no. Smile

I'm ~ 50 hrs in and have not started any main mission in Grand Soren (the capital city). So you can easily get a lot more than 60 hrs out of it by doing side quests or just explore on your own. Wink

Before I start this: Is there any class you should choose, or can you change it later? Is there anything that is more powerful than others, or do you think it is well balanced and well playable with any loadout?

You can change vocation (classes) once you reach Gran Soren - witch is pretty fast if you straight up follow the main story.

As for what to start with, go with what you think might suit you better. And once you can change vocation, you really should try different ones, especially once you've maxed out one.

Ok thanks! Smile

I like games where you can switch things around, and don't have to start all over again just to try a new class that you might not even like, but only find out after 15 hours.

Looking forward to starting this tomorrow Smile

To be fair, the strider feels like the best due to it's bow-daggers/melee-ranged versatility, though there are some pretty cool spells if you chose the mage.

The warrior is your basic melee class - as a standard class - the later on warrior-mage hybrid (witch is what I'm tackling right now) has some pretty cool thing going for it, and you can change to a staff and try some of those cool spells when ever you want, if melee doesn't suit you. Very Happy

Is there a fast-travel option? It seems kinda annoying to have to walk EVERYTHING, and I only played a couple of hours...

Yeah, having your own buffs feels better than relying on the pawns mood. And the fact that I can wear the Griffith's white hawk armor set, that's a plus too. grinhurt

Not really, there are one use stones that can teleport you back to Gran Soren, and it seems that later on you get an item that lets you set other spots to teleport using those stones. But there's not Oblivion/Skyrim fast travel system.

I like it, though I would have loved to have some kind of mounts or even RDR like caravans that tax you. It seems like this game was perfect for those, and they would matter a lot more than in other open world games.

Here's the thing: Fast travel makes you lazy, and it makes you miss exploring interesting locations. There are few instances where you want to fast-travel anywhere except back to Gran Soren and if you are a good explorer you will find portable teleportation stones which you can place wherever you want. My recommendation is that you place one of these nearby the northern tower (north of Grand Soren, across the sea) as soon as possible.

I think I teleported a total number of 5 times in my playthrough, first time because an encounter was just too difficult, second time because I needed to stock up on herbs, and third time because I got wise and realized I would have to travel between two different locations a couple of times, and the other two in sequence to that same location (the north tower).

Once you've placed the teleportation stone it will be available as a location (you can choose between it and Gran Soren). When you find more such stones each will be a choice, so you can sort of fast travel in the game, but it takes ferrystones... if you're too lazy to locate them you can buy them (not at the latter part of the game though, so stock up before facing the dragon).

For me dragon's dogma is capcom number one franchise, and i think this is where they need to put $$$. Would love to see dragon's dogma 2 on next generation consoles.
Its a great new ip and i hope they will made more games like this Smile
After i finished playing i messed around and played as an assassin, and it was more fun then a fighter, Goddammit Harpies Mad so next time Wink

Uhh, you guys can play this the way it is? Really? Neutral The performance is absolutely horrifying, at BEST I would say it's plodding along at 15-20fps and much, much worse when magic is being cast. I'm only in the opening part so far, just fighting the Chimera, and it's shocking. No amount of motion blur is going to make this seem even remotely smooth or playable, not to me at least Sad I certainly hope it clears up because the game looks like it has enormous potential but right now the performance is too low to be comfortable for playing.

... and what's with those ghastly black borders? I know the game is being rendered at 1280x608 and then having the rest of the 720 buffer filled with black pixels, but WHY? For the love of god, WHY? Sad

~edit~

Seems smoother in the village and outside of combat. I guess some games just push the humble hardware a bit too hard :\

I don't doubt it, it's getting excellent feedback and it has more than a passing feel of the Souls titles to it. I'm definitely going to keep playing... but man oh man wouldn't I prefer a PC version just to brute-force the framerate a bit. Village and wilderness running it's fine, but closed quarters and heavy combat causes it to chug significantly.
