yeah, and it depends on the number of players as well, it's not the same to be in gold in 1v1 or in gold in 4x4.
i for example, got in the platinum league in 4x4, gold in 3x3, gold in 2x2, and silver in 1x1, but i have won only a single game in 1x1, from 5 games in total.
strategies completely differ from one game to other, according to the number of players. if you got well organized in a 4x4 map, you probably be imbatible, even if you play against 2 other players that are in diamond...
this game is a fucking masterpiece

wins and points don't matter. the ladder uses a hidden matchmaking rating to determine your league placement. you can have 10 wins and be placed in masters or have 500 wins and be placed in bronze, it doesn't matter in the slightest. the only thing that matters is your actual skill rating that you do not see..
league placement is determined by your skill rating compared to everyone else.
it's not static but changes depending on the skill of all the other players. if you're in the worst 20% then you're going into bronze. the 20% above that go into silver, etc
the system is fine.. people just get better and better and the worst players gradually drop off so the average skill increased by a lot so lower leagues are closer together now.
being gold now is as good as being diamond was a year ago as everyone got better across the board...
if you can beat actual gold skill level players at a 50% win rate consistently you will get into gold.
winning 1 match against a gold player doesn't mean anything though because he might have had a bad day, or maybe you were lucky, maybe he just left the game, maybe he was afk, etc. you have to do prove that you belong there.
there is a popular costume maps going around with the new units and changes(new units using current Starcraft 2 skins) of course this is "Beta" and quite unbalanced,Swam Host and Tempest Are OP at the moment.

MLG National Finals in Providence start today
Lots of big names showing up there like MVP, Nestea, Losira, DongRaeGu, MMA, MC just to name a few. It's gonna be epic!
If anyone cares or is interested, I made a small application for the Android OS.
It will work on any 2.2 and higher device.
Basically It's a multiplayer guide to Starcraft 2. It features all the unit stats, build orders from teamliquid, techtree for all 3 races, hotkeys and so on.
The ladder is fucked up somehow... been silver and between rang 10-30. Then played a bit down, because i wanted to see if i can reach silver again if im bronce... didnt made it into bronce, and started playing regular again. At some point i was Silver rang 1 and still got bronce enemys... thats how much a rang says about skill.

tip, when ranting always double read, its painful to read, not to mention silver and bronze are almost the same, you get bronze enemy and you complain, for all we know he`s top 5 bronze and ur bottom 5 silver, nor would that matter anyway
bronze have to advance to silver, so they have to beat silver players from time to time
same as you have to prove you should stay in silver by beating bronze... i bet you lost anyway
people will complain about anything
and what skill, you have no real skill if you are in silver or bronze.. i was never below platinum, and while i was still laddering there was no diamond or masters ( and there were copper? or some other lower level leagues ), so plat was top one
and even after months not playing plus reset i would get straight back to plat,
anyone who`s any good will know how easy is to forget all build orders, keybidings and similar stuff.. not to mention adjust to patch changes after 3+ months now laddering

this 7th season the guys at blizzard changed the matchladder system. for example im always ranked silver or gold, now i've qualified in bronze due to the retardness of my "team" in 4v4... now i have to confront silver, gold and even platinum players, with bronze team... no chance to win at all.

yep but you should also get far weaker enemys. I like the more random matchups, because if you get owned, you can learn something, and otherwise its fine to win too.
Was the same in the earlier Fifa games... its just more fun with that random factor imho.
We previously announced that we intended to “loosen” the range of opponents chosen in matchmaking, causing the game to occasionally match opponents that were a bit more disparate from one another in skill than before. This change was carried out, we have carefully evaluated the results we’re seeing, and we have decided to roll back the change for now.
What we saw with this experiment were undesirable consequences for players at the far ends of the range of skill, and we have now returned to the previous matchmaker tuning -- settings that were in use for a long time before this trial. Nonetheless, we may make further adjustments to the matchmaker in the future.
Thank you very much for your participation and feedback on this!
Since Blizzard aren't attending E3 this year, and since they neglected to mention anything at BlizzCon, does anyone know when Heart of the Swarm is due for release?

Was supposed to be this year, but I'm really skeptical now. Adding 6 new units is hard work, mate...
And I actually really like sc2, but Blizz is very slow with developing. Also, sc2 is starting to look really dated, and it wasn't good looking when it launched, either.
SC2 singleplayer was great fun, I had a far better time than I ever did with SC1 - just not enough to justify Blizzard's insane pricing or the fact that they split the game into three parts, with the other two parts due out "when we can be arsed and when we think our coffers need a refill" --- SC2 Part 1 was released in 2010 and the 2nd part STILL isn't out. That's just shocking
