fun little time waster but nowhere near the excellence of the first 2 games.
my main complaint are the cutscenes - too many and too long. playing for 2 minutes and then watching another 2 minute video is a no-no.

Runs solid at 60 fps (with some strange drops tho at cutscenes and in menu's)
But i get some strange microstutter now and then, guess that's because the game thinks my GPU has 2gb memory and not 2x1gb (what still is only 1gb vram.)

Using these settings:

 Spoiler:

Don't know why it won't stay at 60hz tho... jumps back to 59 all the time.

Yeah. But I wanted to play something. not watch some cinematics with a plot seen in countless movies.
And those words cluttering the screen are hideous. Also those effects belonging to a bad kane and lynch game are awful. Add the split screen, fast editing and their long duration and I found myself falling asleep Very Happy

I gotta say, this game is running so smooth! Really didn't expect that. Maxxed out (2x msaa, fxaa OFF) and adaptive vsync it's just amazingly smooth no tearing what so ever, and seems to run 60fps locked or at least that's how it feels all the time.

Btw, the artifacts I mentioned earlier maybe gone now. I read somewhere that turning Threaded Optimization to ON (instead of leaving it on Automatic) should fix some issues with Nvidia. Turned it on and made a long session with lots of deaths and retries and it didn't happen again so... *fingers crosses*. Cool

It seems like you really don't have to rush on getting a 670/680, this game really isn't heavy.

My only concern now is, how the hell do you launch the game without having problems with this social shit? I understand that I have to press the offline option but it takes few times to launch the game until it's finally pressable. :\

PS, I noticed check points can slightly get you frustrated. They made them not so frequent to make it hard lol and on top of that, not give you much pain kilers. Smile

When does it crash? Strangely enough adding -windowed option to command line stopped my crashes at startup. Then when you are ingame press Alt+Enter to go fullscreen \o/

driver update did the job.....

The game is indeed pretty good and very impressive on the technical side. It's a different beast than MP1&2 - instead of a noir comic book we get a full fledged holywood action blockbuster. A good one, but the change may still not fit everyone's tastes. Those who can see past that, however, will find a rewarding gameplay, a very gritty and brutal story and enough Payne in Max (both metaphorically and literally) to justify the title. I still prefer the atmosphere of first two games - there was something magical in it, that simply isn't present here - but after playing and finishing MP3, I'm pretty happy R* decided to continue the franchise.

Got it (670)for a fair price (at least for Europe) so no biggie.

Replaying now to find all golden guns and clues. Still miss old save system Wink

Funny thing is Max is considered a joke, a has-been pushover. Nobody seems to remember him murdering tons of mobsters, but they still blame him for the death his partner. Oh well, maybe guidos are just not that smart Smile

That too, but mostly to that asshat guido's taunts. I mean the guy murdered a whole mob family single-handedly (not to mention other gangs and highly trained special ops ), least they could do is to show a little respect. Yeah, he spent several years getting drunk on a daily basis, but still.

Does anybody else have REALLY slow mouse control in bullet-time or when downed? I cranked the mouse speed all the way up and disabled smoothing in the gamepad section, but still I would like faster mouse speeds, even in normal game. I don't usually play high-sensitive, but the mouse in this game just seems so slow...

Dunno about that but I'm using a dual shock 3 with MiJ and it seems to work pretty good, very rarely though I notice like minor glitches in the controls. There're issues obviously so a patch or two will come soon, I guess.

It's sad people don't realize this. Instead of a full on cheese crime comic, you get a full on cheese crime movie. Cheese in a good way of course. These set pieces are right out of a mid-80's Mann/Bay/Scott actioner. Great stuff.

fucking hell.. i just restarted the game and my progress since chapter 7 has disappeared Sad
i was at 11 the last time i played.

could anyone please upload a save file with the game completed on hard? the file (MP3_PROGRESSION) is in my documents/rockstar games/max payne 3/profiles. thanks in advance!

anyone? please? :'(

i'd love to find a way too.
my fucking retardet roommates just deleted my save again.
I don't know who's more retarder, rockstar for inventing such a stupid progress save system, or my roommates for hitting "new game" button instead of "chapter select".

"goddamn chumps..."

--------

as for the game, reminds of uncharted sometimes, the running with ak, and covering, and the sun and shit...

it's amazing. The reflections in the floors made me wet, never seen anything like it.

there's one thing bothering me though. Just things that dont stick to the "serious" noir ex-cop badass story like cars exploding in 3-4 shots, super-armed bosses that won't let go after eating something about hundred bullets, or just stupid cutscenes like a guy running away from you at 10-20 meters with a bag full of money, and you can't do nothing because well... it's a cutscene

It's not hard to manage save games these days. Christ.

Get a sync app, pick the game folders you want to be backed up, and have it sync them to Dropbox (either automatically, or whenever you choose). Taa daa! You now have versioned save games.

Or, if that will take too long, perhaps doing the game from the beginning again will be quicker Reaction

if I was to follow that line of thought i'd have to backup almost everything "just to be safe". either way i don't know what i'm bitching about. the game is so great i'm ready to play that fucking stadium for the third time.
