So much wasted potential.

Compared to MP1+2, the characters are one-dimensional and uninteresting. Mona Sax? Vincent Gognitti? You will not see any character that is only half as interesting. Passos, Da Silva... all forgettable. The characters are part of what made MP1+2 stand out amongst so many other shooters.

And what is that shit about Max being addicted to alc and pills? You won't see anything like that in the actual gameplay which is plain stupid. In one scene he can barely walk, and when you get control over him, he'll run'n'gun like the fat half-brother of Agent 47. Good job, R*, very believable.

The setting is nice, the atmosphere too, gameplay is fun. What is left is a good shooter that is not Max Payne. MP ended with MP2 in DoA mode for me.

Playing with these settings on my old Core Duo / 2GB Ram / 9800GTX+

I'm fucking amazed how well runs on it...got around 20/60 FPS depends of scene detail, I can't complain at all, my rig running this Laughing

Yeah I agree with Special Agent Cooper, imho the game doesn't feel like a cover shooter at all. I rarely even use it, if I take cover I usually end up getting outflanked and killed or waste lots of painkillers. I find if I just go in guns blazing with shoot dodge, I end up taking way less damage. Plus unlike most cover shooters, in Max Payne 3 you don't have a targeting reticule when you're in cover, which is actually kind of cool.

Price aside, I would always go for a Steam copy over a non-Steam copy. I bought my key from cddiski for $16.. but I'd have definitely preferred a Steam key.

It certainly gives hope for GTA5, doesn't it? It's a shame Rockstar can't/won't retroactively update GTA4 to use this current implementation of RAGE Sad I know it's the whole "open world vs linear closed world" argument .. but still, the detail in MP3 is fantastic and I'm sure RS could have done a much, much better job of GTA4 after seeing this.

No, because this is a closed corridor shooter, while GTA is open. GTA4 also ran 60FPS smooth inside buildings. Laughing Let's hope GTA5 is optimized, but I'd take it with a shovel of salt. Very Happy

Been playing this almost constantly since about 9am. At the start of the 3rd part of the story.
Runs amazingly on my rig (Q9550, 8GB RAM, 560Ti @ 1920x1080), looks fucking fantastic, and runs at approx 100-120fps, everything high but MSAO off.
Bit pissed I went and bought a key from cddiski, and had to use a crack to get it past the intro movie, entered my Social Club email and away it went.
