Did they fix the mute guy Esbern from the main quest? He isn't supposed to be mute, he's just bugged to oblivion and back Laughing

I believe it was fixed with the first patch, the ini was just missing some entries.

Delete/rename your inis in Documents folder and let Skyrim recreate them.

I'm really impressed with what Beth is doing with this game. I'll pre-order the DLC when it's available, I expect big things. Did Beth change management after Oblivion or something?

There's no question that A LOT of studios could learn from the way Bethesda is patching skyrim; the way they are adding new features all the time is really amazing actually. Certainly deserves a buy if one is playing it.

Really?! Very Happy

All the Bethesda games from Oblivion to Skyrim were patched by the Community.Oblivion, Fallout3, New Vegas and now Skyrim. So forgive me if i'm not impressed. Quarn's excellent patching of Oblivion, Mission Mojave patch for New Vegas, the Fo3 unofficial patch for Fo3 and now the unofficial patch for Skyrim. Compare those with whatever Bethesda puts out.

Bethesda can make an open world game quite well, but they still need to fill that world better. New Vegas was an esception due to the fact that the game was made by Obsidian.

Anything before Oblivion doesn't enter in this discussion, because those games were released before Bethesda was acquired by ZeniMax Corporation.

It fixes a ton of bugs but for best effect you should combine it with another twenty or so bug fixes. Razz
(Bethesda have managed to get rid of some of the major issues and the new features are nice but there's still more that could be fixed properly.)

To play any game from Oblivion to date without the unofficial patches is unconceivable for me. The fans did a tremendous job in fixing Beth's games.

Why they add mounted fighting to the game 6 months after launch? some type of joke?

No mounted combat in Oblivion, it sort-of existed in TES2: Daggerfall but after that it's been modded (Somewhat crudely but there's not much to do about that seeing the limitations you have to contend with.) into the other TES titles.

Only as mods, and those never worked nearly as well as Mount&Blade mounted combat, for example.

Erm... Zenimax and Bethesda Softworks both were founded by Christopher Weaver. The changes that happened during Morrowind=>Oblivion are more due to 360 becoming the main platform and changes in developers than anything business-related.

By that definition, every major modable RPG in history sucked ass and has been "fixed".

The new version of SKSE is out So Much Win

http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1372862-wipz-skyrim-script-extender-skse/page__view__findpost__p__20829070

I Just downloaded the beta update and tested it, all working perfectly so far.

Also, I'm not sure if it was already mentioned here, but the latest Nvidia drivers (301.42 WHQL) fix the bug with the driver-forced AO not working outdoors.

Just fired it up to spend a few minutes and all of a sudden water surfaces flash/strobe but only if I "mouselook" at them... I'm guessing ATI drivers since that was the only thing that changed since the last time I've played this? Neutral
And just like that this bug is gone? Scratch Head

Just fired the game up again, walked to the same spot where I was having the flickering and... nothing.
Better this way I guess.

Oh and no beta patch here, it's the same version as last time.

Do the unofficial patches conflict with the official ones at all?

No, they do their utmost to avoid conflicts, to that intent two fixes currently added are set to be removed as it's now handled by the 1.6 patch.
(Nirnroot glow duplication and the removal and burial of Jarl Ulfric's body if I've understood it correctly.)

the nightingale armor (full set) + the nightingale blade (with 25 health damage and 25 stamina damage) are just incredibly powerful and if you go with a sneaking playthrough, only few big bosses are hard to get down.
Can't wait for the first DLC...^^"

I've had this weird issue too in the past weeks, it's definitely not Ati-related Smile . Used to happen (randomly) especially when I fast-travelled to locations with stretches of water/rivers nearby, but now the flickering doesn't seem to show up anymore. (well, not yet Razz)

There are many mods that don't change the gameplay but make the experience incredibly more satisfying though, such as the SkyUI, Sounds of Skyrim, Quality World Map, Vurt's Flora Overhaul, Crimson Tide, Realistic Lighting etc. Razz
