Have you checked so it didn't switch server?
(Or just re-checked in case it was some delay from the server which resulted in no characters showing up.)
EDIT: Had been mentioned already.
I have of course done that.
I could recover my level 15 monk but not the witch doctor..great stuff ;(((
Yeah Hackers are running amok in Battlenet atm happened to me too yesterday great times...
Blizz doesnt even acknowledge there could be a problem on their side and blames the costumers for everything.
Yeah sure because thousands of people playing the same game getting infected by some super keylogger so that X hacker can strip their character bare is a more logical explanation then them having an exploit on their side that permit such a thing. They said all those thousands of hackings were the user fault. What a fucking joke
Im not saying its impossible that some hackers orchestrated an elaborate phisingi or malicious codes injection in ads ect on popular D3 related sites (Diablo wiki , Diablo inc gamers , D2JSP ect) but an exploit on their servers is much more likely imho , especially in the way its happening. The session ID hijacking theory is a good one. Now i can understand why they wouldnt admit that they have been compromised , especially if they havent found and-or fixed the exploit. However putting the fault on the users for thousands of hijacking (some with authenticators including 2 journalists) is just.....Its too much widespread for that. Do they really think we are that dumb ? Sure they blizzbots believe it like gospel and even accuse other users who were hacked of negligence ect...but those of us who have dealt with this type of situations before know better. I could be wrong but this has all the look of a server side exploit.
And i need to add that Blizzbots fanboys on the official forums are some of the dumbest motherfuckers ii have ever dealt with. These people are complete Blizzard ass licking drones with no critical and logical thinking whatsoever. Brutal
havent played a DH myself yet (not past level 12ish anyway) :
What does Smoke screen do exactly and what/how did it get nerfed ?
with rune you become invisible for 5 seconds
so basically with preparation with rune that restores 60% life and multishot with rune that restores 1 discipline..you become nearly unkillable

It was a defensive/escapist skill, one that turned you invisible for several seconds and so you couldn't be hit by mobs. Now it's been nerfed down to 1s last, 2s with a Rune.
According to reports on the official forums, Wizard shields have also been nerfed as have regenerative skills for Monk. Blizzard basically just destroyed three characters. GO BLIZZARD, YOU SO COOL!

you can thank athene for the monk hotfix very smart what these guys did, if bliz had not hotfixed an hour lated they would have gotten diablo inferno world first, and i would have applauded them for their skill and team work making the perfect rotation like that , but blizzie shit their pants and nerfed it in hotfix without even telling anyone a few days ago
Had a lot of fun with diablo 3, but I won't be playing anymore. It is just not what I expected it to be. The following is something I wrote on the blizz forums, it's not a complaint in any way, just my take on it.
Quote:
My barb got to inferno Butcher, couldnt get passed the enrage timer.
Farming items in inferno was boring and tedious. I would prefer some mindless hack n slash farming, not the stay-focus-kite 5min and dying to watch some blues/rares drop.
Range Barb was hilarious tho, didnt know this built could work.
So I leveled another class, wizard to 60. Went looking for a good built to farm items, force armor built seemed supergood. Spend few mills on gear, next day patch, all useless.
The game doesn't offer much endgame, the trading game aka AH is too transparent that it takes all the fun away. Farming for items is not effective cause making money *AND* buying items *ON* the AH is a much more effective way to get your gear. I made approx 7 million, and I didn't even try, was fun at first tho but I would definitely prefer the old way (like in old MMOs where AH didn't exist, hella fun, I heard D2 also had this setup).
I had a good time, didn't play D2 but don't understand what the fuzz is all about. I would definitely give it a 9/10 but it isn't the holy grail of gaming. Can't imagine people will be playing this 3 years from now, let alone 10 years.
This was my own experience, a cool story if you will.
Also, like i already said, i HIGHLY suggest, to use a non-public email for battle.net (preferably isp provided) and not emails like hotmail, gmail etc.
Maybe i'm paranoid, but my account (wow) got hacked twice with hotmail, everyday i get spam mail about WoW + any mmo there is on hotmail but never on my isp email. I also never again had any issues etc since then.
I don't know, but since Blizz introduced the bnet system to WoW there seemed to be a whole lot more of "hacked" accounts. I had a WoW account for a longer time with the same mail and pw. Same for my brother and a few friends and all got their accounts "hacked" shortly after the login method got changed to the bnet system or however you'd call it. Big coincidence or a flaw in the system? Making the login name the same as the attached mailadress doesn't seem very clever. I'd still like to know how, apparently china gold farmer, got my pw because it was unique, old but unique. Oh well, since then I'm also a bit paranoid and checking the taskmanager nearly on daily basis. Especially since my Steam account has more than a handfull of games.
I never figured out what that was, did some light damage and spread out everywhere (Well apparently not everywhere as one of the hell achievements is for avoiding that - and other -attacks entirely.) but it didn't do much damage so it was just a weird "hole" effect or something like that.
(It probably kills far quicker now that I'm past normal difficulty.)
In some WoW boss encounters that (black/green/red) pool spreads doing "X" damage to all players that stand in it. In HC versions it can really hurt and by the end of the fight it will mostly cover ALL "playground" area.
Items with +Int should help to increase raw damage for the wizard as far as I know but then you'll also need the +Vitality attribute to actually survive if you get hit which doesn't leave much room for other stuff on normal magical equipment.
(Rare - yellow - items allow more bonuses but it's a bit more of a gamble what you get and what values those bonuses will have, apparently even legendary items are very random which is evident from checking a few different auctions of the same item.)
EDIT: Though it never seems you have enough or some other good item drops and you'll have to balance the benefits and drawbacks carefully.
Though as I understood it on the later difficulties things bog down regardless due to the quantity of rare and elite mobs and their many attributes.
(Shield is painful enough on nightmare, immortal minion and others later on sound really unfair but it can probably be done.)
I just tried the new nerfed SS and its still viable to a certain extent , just less effective.
No more tanking champions/elites but its still help to survive a lil bit. It certainly will make Inferno harder for DH.
I probably wont be playing D3 much longer anyway. The fun factor is starting to wear off and Inferno is more tedious than hard , especially now with the SS nerf. Some of my buddies are still playing and in Nightmare so i will lend them a hand and help them find good gear ect but that`s about it. Will play periodically here and there but no more 8-10 hours long D3 sessions. In D2 i was mostly as PVP and PK guy with with those option absent from D3 i find i find the end game pretty lacking.
Running barbarian with 40k hp, 6.5k armor and 300 all resists (about 40%) and 10k damage. I get my ass handed to me in Inferno by some affixes, things like molten, plague, waller, arcane is just not possible.. I'm better of remaking the game then. Barbarians are having massive amounts of trouble in Inferno, naturally some people are doing fine but it all depends on what affixes the mobs get and hopefully they drop perfectly rolled loot.
Running a 2-hander is not in even in imaginable at this point.
