is it true that Skidrow tried to hack an EU server in order to steal data for an emulator?

My comment was a response to this:

How exactly replaying Torchlight 2 will be any different? |

TL2 let's you start on the highest difficulty right away, instead of trudging through the game 3 times before you unlock it.

There is no SKIDROW/RELOADED/RAZOR site/forum. Not now, not ever. They never publicly announce their releases. Every post claiming to be SKIDROW is fake.
Also, unless they crack the online authentication, we won't see Max Payne until June 1st, since the US release date has been moved forward as well. They didn't manage to crack it for GTA IV, so I doubt it will happen now. |
For Max Payne 3 isn't it using Steamworks? That more or less guarantees it's impossible for a early release date, though if there is a stand-alone retail version (I pre-ordered via Gamersgate for example.) I guess it might be possible to bypass the activation if it's SecuROM since it's based on individual time zones but at most it would be a few hours advantage.
(Via some Asian VPN or such.)
If it's Tages or Solidshield or ActProtect or what else there is then I don't really know how it works.
(I've not checked if there's any details about this, thought it was Steamworks and they gave up on LIVE but it probably also uses RGSC or what to call that program they're using in short.)
For Diablo 3 and that "Skidrow" webpage as you said it's not a official webpage, some individual uses it to mirror releases from other P2P or group uploads from various placed like WBB I guess.
It could likely be emulated and probably redirected to look at 127.0.0.1 or what the local IP was again for servers (Or private server projects later on I guess.) as a sort of single solo-play stuff but that would take a long time to catch up to the retail version as it is now.
(Let alone future updates and they could always improve security, probably already have as a feedback from the beta version emulator project.)
(Might not even need client updates for it as it goes via their launcher and agent software in the programdata directory.)

I only played on elite and it was a good challenge. Easy might be easier than D3 on normal but since I only intend to play through once this suits me fine.

@ JBeckman
Max Payne 3 isn't a Steamworks game, so you might be shit out of luck if you preordered from Gamersgate and they don't offer the Steam version.
Quote: | The Steam version of Max Payne 3 supports Steam achievements and buying DLC from in-game via Steam. Certain features normally associated with Steamworks—such as friends, cloud saves, stats, and matchmaking—are fully supported using Rockstar's own Social Club (not Steam or Games for Windows Live) as the platform for all versions.
Retail key activation on Steam is not supported. |

there won't be new content for D3, confirmed by blizzard, except some bug fixes and promised pvp patch. only new content might come in a from of a expansion pack, like with older diablos.

I wonder if this game will even last a year with no new content or anything? i mean people within a month or two will be average lvl50+ so there will not be much to do everyone will get bored sooner or later.

- Dual wield 1H weapons
- Have a 2 hander weapon in inventory.
- Make sure there is an empty space above the 2 hander (still in inventory).
- Drag the one hander over the two hander so that it overlaps by 1 block.

There's one sword that has a certain resemblance with the Lionheart sword from WoW: http://www.wowhead.com/item=28430/lionheart-executioner
I am so surprised...

D3 isn't MMO. it doesn't have to "last". After general population finishes the game one or few times only the most die hard fanboys stay to play it over and over again. there will be people playing D3 for a long time i bet, but obviously not as much as on release week.

Exactly, besides you need only 3 more players for full party. Still there will be plenty people active (I guess at least around 50k).
When I've had my fill of D3 I'll go play something else and return every now and then when I feel like killing hordes of enemies and collect loot. Same as most other good games.

Can't play this game longer than 2 hours. Don't get me wrong, Diablo 3 technically superior [in terms of animations and graphics] but it is very primitive, repetitive and de-braining at the same time. I made 20 levels since launch and I don't have the urge to log in again.

I'm gonna have a blast if Diablo3 gets cracked. No, really. I'm in the category that doesn't play much online, so for me D3 is not that attractive (Torchlight 2 is, though).
